Just wondering, if I am not going to use the boat for over 3 weeks, I cover it after I clean it even though it is in the garage the whole time.
So what do you peeps do?

I have never have even owned a cover in the 20 years that I have owned a house in Havasu until last year. I bought one to cover it for the winter. I did use old bed sheets in the past for the winter though. :)

I have left it uncovered for two weeks and didn't get much dust at all.

I like to find a soft, lightweight cover to put on mine when it's in the garage. Like tyvek or something, keep the dust off but let it breathe
Good point B.I. If you cover the boat after you washed it and the inside isn't dry. Isn't there a chance that mold will ruin your interior. This happened to me, but my boat back then was parked outside at the time and it rained and then got hot outside. :(

For the bigger boats Magic makes, they do a cover out of the car cover material. It is very light weight and water does soak through it, but I used it as a dust cover and it worked great.
I always cover it if I can, doesn't matter if it is only 3 days, it is getting covered.

The garage cat (wo do not have house pets) is not permitted to play sailor so Lowrider stays covered except for a couple days of full sun outside after a lake trip to dry her out.

Got a thin soft cotton cover for the boat when it's in storage. Pop out the seat cushions so everything will dry out good, If you got an engine cover or ski locker, even a glove box, open them up to prevent mold.

Always have the dust cover on in the garage, then a full tow cover when traveling.

I cover outside even if just for a day. In the garage never. Hell I use the stereo constantly while the boat is in the garage. That cover shit would be in the way.:D

If you think of a Boat cover as a drop cloth, it makes since to cover it. If you car over heats, you have protection, if you are handling something around the boat it might prevent it from being scratch.
Cover it:) :) :)

2 boats + 2 cats = covered all the time, especially in the garage. They like to sneak in there because its cooler.

I hate to disagree with everyone that covers their boat. If it is not outside, don't cover it. Even the softest covers will retain dust, grime, dirt, etc and when you pull it over the gel it will leave micro scratches. Most covers are abrasive and will cause some sort of visible dulling of the finish. If you EVER put a cover on the boat it must be wiped down and the cover must be extremely soft and recently washed.
Our boats are always garaged and never covered. When and if I let even a small layer of dust settle on the gel coat it gets sprayed with Meguires Final Inspection spray and wiped off with a micro fiber cloth (one cloth used per side of the boat).
If there is even a hint of dust on your boat and you put a cover on it, it will scratch it. Put your boat under the garage lights and you will see.:(
Mind you, I am the most meticulous guy on the planet so don't listen to me.
BTW, if you are in and out of the garage ALOT moving stuff around, a cover will prevent some damage to the boat if you swing somthing, or bang somthing into it.

I have never covered the boat while in the garage. The small amount of dust that would get on their clean off too easy. However the lines the cover can make on the interior are a pain in the arse.

The boat garage is insulated, drywalled, painted, with epoxy floors and the only thing in it is the boat. I hardly get any dust on the boat. The key is keeping the garage shut at all times. I never cover it, my cover is brand new.

I cover mine in the garage. I keep mine at Havi but when the wind kicks up, dust seems to find it's way into the garage and then migrate to the nice clean seats of my boat. I just toss it on there, I don't tie it donw of anything.

We cover it with the snap down bimini (open on one end so nothing grows) and then cover with the big grey cover.
(and we trickle charge the battery)
We pulled our plug this time:jawdrop:
