Anyone know if the part numbers that are casted into Nicson cover plates are there own system or oem numbers?
I pulled mine apart and would like to go with the smaller flywheel and gear reduction starter rather than the LARGE flywheel and direct drive starter thats on there now.
BTW its Chrysler.

Chrysler??
I've got a Nicson bellhousing, I'll go check the #'s on it.
Are you talking about going from the 143 to a 130 tooth flywheel?
I've got both a jet boat and a v-drive with B/B Mopar wedge power. I'd like to see pic's of yours if convenient.

Ok what I have is a 172 tooth flywheel with a direct drive starter(tin can). This is a 440 chrysler, 6 bolt flywheel. I would like to get away from the current setup and get the smaller flywheel. I have other flywheels just not another cover plate. So if anyone has one that would like to trade let me know.
Mopar guy I will post some pics in a bit while I upload, in mean time goto my website and you can see my boat there. Same one as the avatar.

I found my answer......its way cheaper to make my own adapter plate. Don't really think I need to spend 250 bucks on a plate that I don't like the looks of.

Kindsvater,
I looked into that website earlier and couldn't find your flattie. Nice pic's!! I like your hull better than my RaysonCraft.
The only numbers that I found on my Nicson BH are these "101 7". Dunno what they mean.
Also found this, "use Starter # 1889200 & Flywheel #2121950". Those look like Chrysler production OEM part numbers to me.
I also spotted this on eBay....

Kindsvater,
I looked into that website earlier and couldn't find your flattie. Dude its at least on every page once if not twice. And thanks for finding that but I noticed that the guy in e-bay cut the feet on his cover plate and made the adapter plate also. (I'm guessing)
And thanks for the comments

Sorry, bad eyesight when it came to spotting your nice flattie.
Yeah, at least the dude says it in the ad about the ears being cut. I don't know why people ruin those nice vintage pieces like that. My guess is to get it into a hull with narrowly set stringers?
Good luck with your set-up.
Nice Mopar B/B by the way.
