I wish I had my Camera with me today.. The Surf is huge here in San Diego.. Some 20 Foot Faces.. :jawdrop: I can see Waves Breaking from my Office on Grand Ave in Pacific Beach....

Thats crazy, SD usually has no waves!! I heard southern cali was gonna be getting some huge waves this week.

Surf was big and tide was strong this morning in Newport Beach. I was out yesterday and it was a decent but nowhere near what it was this morning. Guys were in barrells this morning on 28th street. I paddled out this monrning and it was double overhead in some spots. I got tossed like a rag in a washing machine a couple times. Quite a few people on the beach as well.

This is from the SD surf report:
Welcome to Big Wednesday...really, it's like a scene out of the movie here at Swami's today. Just as many people on the bluff watching the action as there are in the water. And the surf is pumping. Not that consistent but when the big sets come in there are plenty of double-overhead takeoffs and some pretty epic rides. The most challenging thing by far will be getting a wave to yourself - it's REALLY crowded and guys are showing no mercy with two or three guys 'sharing' every wave. Nice clean conditions, too.
Waves size: Over head high
Sets size: Occasional double over head high
Sets Interval: 6-7 min.
Surfers Out: 40 + surfers
Winds: Calm
Weather: Cloudy skies
in a few minutes then,kids are home they will love it

There were a lot of kids on the beach this morning with their Dad's and Mom's. With Christmas break here it's easy to get them to the beach. :)

Right about now I am hating all of you..
Used to live in Encinitas. Are we looking more out of the west or north....
Blacks should be going off.. I liked Tabletops when it was breaking.
Now I am landlocked.... arrruuggghhhh...
Time to get sick, dust off the board and wetsuit..

i hit up newport today and got some beautiful rides on my board this morning....looking back toward the beach w/ the sun and the spray of the waves was awesome...i dropped in a couple times and got covered up...prolly the best day of the year so far...since its already almost over haha.
Where did you go out in NB? It was sweet coming up over the wave while paddling out and the back spray coming up huge. Hands down the biggest day I've seen in 2005. You go out often? If so we should meet up sometime. I live on 28th

Just drove by the beach here in O'side......Awesome, huge and with the off-shore breeze you get that granley pushed up face and spray.
Haven't seen any that big in many years in these parts.

Went out on the pier in Oceanside today and it was crazy!!! We were about 1/2 way out on the pier and we actually got wet from a wave. There were definitely some 20' faces out there, the whole pier was shaking!!!
They had some of the roads close to the water shut down because of the high surf as well. I grew up surfing here in So.Cal. and this was the biggest I have seen to date.

SD must 've got the really big stuff. 8-10' steamrollin barrels off of Goldenwest and the cliffs. South side pier looked mild and the swell was diminishing it looked like. No time between waves, medium tide first of the set the best wave and fourth wave the biggest. Foukin inlanders are in town. Horns honkin at people, everyone rushin. When you come to the beach, leave your attitude and stress behind. It's the BEACH!!!!!!!!!!

That one is a 70 footer world record from last year in Hawaii. He got 70k for surfing the 70 footer.

a good bro of mine from sc mike parsons (snips) won that in, i think 2003 on a 66' beast out at "cortez bank" -- in the middle of the freaking ocean :crossx:
I've seen a show on the waves out there. They spring up out of the middle of nowhere. Crazy stuff!

Your right, but I have not been to Mexico in a while. I don't feel safe driving down there anymore. It's to bad because i have some good memories from when I was younger from San Felipe, Ensenada, Rosarito ect...
If the Mexican Government were smart they would crack down on the corruption and they would clean up on tourism. Imagine Baja with five star resorts down to the tip. They could make tons of $$$.

They actually busted a couple guys towing in surfers in Ventura county yesterday morning. Read about it on the surfer mag message boards. This morning felt like a little back to normal and actually was able to ride a couple without getting the crap beat out of me. Yesterday was so awesome though!
