I have a Doxie that is almost 2 and I'm taking him to the river. Any problems with yours out there with heat exhaustion?? Any pointers besides food and lots of water all day??
Thanks ahead.......

We take both ours all the time and no problems. Like said, plenty of water, a little shade and dont forget a life jacket.

We take ours from time to time. Just remember that dogs cool from the belly up. So, if they're out in the heat, make them at least get their belly wet. Our new one likes the water, so it's not such a big problem. :D

Also, they lose heat through their head so keep their ears wet

We took ours out there for years (12 yrs old) never really had any issues except generally doxies dont swim too well. with the current. I would dunk them in the water multiple times throughout the day to keep them cool. and make sure their water bowls were always full.
I do the same thing with Bella now. and she has done fine.

I would never bring my Doxi to the river!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:D :D :D
She dose fine. She loves the deck boat in the no wake zones. She does not like the wind too much a speed. Other than that, she loves the water. She will run and get sticks from the water.
Doxi on the sandbar = Attention from the ladies.:D

Mine doesn't swim too well. I wait till we are beached or anchored in a shallow area to let her swim.
Her little legs just can't keep up! :D

Being that they are 1/2 dog high and 2 dog long makes it tough for some to swim.
