Prop questions

looking to get some prop questions answered...is there a pro on the boards:confused: i think i need to go bigger but want to know before i waste the money...currently my set up is a 454 mag with a bravo 1 out drive i have a 21pitch 3 blade now and my rpms are running about 5200 at 59-60 mph...:idea:

Depends on what you're looking for. A 23 might give you some more top end and drop your rpms a few hundred, but you might lose some off the bottom. Different pitches, diameters, brands, styles, all yield different results.

Yeah yeah yeah... but his is stock I'm sure. My 260 Merc swings my 30 over 8 grand ;)

Keith... what you running on your STV? I have that fat shaft lower now on this 260 and had to get a flo torq set-up... None of my other props will work now. Thinking about a Merc Cleaver or an ET...http://www.***boat.com/ubb/graemlins/idea_2.gif

Small shaft Sportmaster. My favorite prop was my Mazco RE3-27, but that threw a blade earlier this year. My RE3-29 is the fastest on my boat, but doesn't accel as well (obviously). I now have a RE3-26, but the 26 has more rake, and doesn't carry the boat as well. I am looking for another 27.
I have run the ET's, and like them for all-out acceleration (I have a 24 chopper that was cut as an ET), but they have more slip in the midrange and top end than I like. My heavy boat also likes the added bow lift of the full round ear blade.

My buddy had a 25 Elim and he had a few props. The best all around and best top end was a 22 4 blade bravo 1...
