condor tx 19
07-11-2007, 08:29 PM
i just got my tx 19 together this spring and i dont have a speedo in it yet. im just curious what everyone thinks the top speed on it should be. its got a 450 horse 502 in it with a berkley pump(12jc) that has an inducer and an A impeller. it is turning 5100-5200 rpms at full throttle. the pump was built by tom morrow in mississippi a couple of years ago. its not brand new but its not wore out either. im running a loader grate on it also. it has a ride plate and a place diverter also. donny little (the midwestern guys will know who he is, he knows what he is doing with a jet boat) helped me set everything up. the hull is a 85 condor tx 19. the bottom has a little bit of hook in it, but not much. im going to fix that this winter.anyone got any guesses on the speed? is 80 mph wishful thinking? what do you guys think?

68-73MPH..... just a guess;)
Mid 70's would be max I would think. If it could exceed 75 I would be surprised with only 450 hp. But what the hell do I know?;)
Edit p.s. the fact that it is a Gullwing, maybe 78 ?

Find someone that has a portable GPS and borrow it or go buy one. If the GPS reads lower than you had hoped for then return it and tell them that it is defective. If it reads higher than expected buy it !:D
For the most part, alot of people that I have talked to that have done this ends up returning them because they are defective!!:jawdrop:

Ain't that right JON ! You have seen your share of "100mph" boats!!

SDPM,
Neil I know you remember, 15 years ago when James and I were in the pursuit of a legit 100 mph ski boat you couldn't buy a $ 250 hand held GPS.
We bought a $ 1,500.00 top of the line Stalker Radar Gun (split the cost with Dave @ DCB).
You could only imagine how many 90 mph jet boats only run 74 mph:) :( I got called all kinds of names and was told over and over again that my high dollar radar gun was a total BS piece of shit. Oh the good old days.....;) :D
Get to work so I can get that boat to you tomorrow. Thanks.
(oh yea, do what Neil said, buy the one that reads the highest)

you should only go as fast as your hull was designed to run at:sqeyes:

My Tx-19 is turnind 5800 to 5900 rpm and running 88-89 mph/ Aggressor "B" impeller, inducer, etc. 468BBC. I think it has alittle more HP than your engine, but it has never been dyno'd.

it'd be faster if you'd cut down the impellor to a b-cut or a bc cut. my guess is about 78-80mph. my tx had about the same amount of power you have when i got it and it ran 78gps(i also had a worn out dominator pump). mine's a 87 condor tx-19

My cruiser turned 4900 with a tight "a" and ran 69-70mph w/ 390 horse big block . That was a 20.5 open bow cruiser. So you should be running around 76-80 with 450hp in a tunnel. Just my opinion.

We owned a Rogers that we were running a blown 454 and running 95 in it. But when we were running 550 hp we ran 75 mph. Have fun with it, they are nice boats.

75 max you have a strong low 70s boat.:D i hope the gps reads more but dont get your feelings hurt if it doesnt.450hp is not alot and in a regular hull style you be very lucky to hit 70mph.i wish you the best.:D

Maybe just maybe alittle setup will go along way in increasing MPH. I've done and still do more mph with less HP than the hp #'s listed. Alot depends on hull weight and shape. If you want more RPM's (unless your cutting down impeller) then you will have to spend the cash cause hp aint cheap. I think alot of jets could & should hit the 80 mark spinning an A impeller in a tight pump to 5,000 rpm. Just as an example a few years back I was running an all stock 330hp bbc hardin motor with headers and an intake at 79mph @ 4,700 on a b+ impeller, not much power there. Since then I've changed things and am continuing to make changes. At 5,000rpm it does 82.2, at 5,300 with a very large passenger and ice chest w 3/4 tanks 85mph. Should know this weekend the MPH with just me in the boat...I'm thinking 87-88 mph. Not a light lay up and has full interior and carpet. It can be done.

Thanks! Sounds like I'm going to be closer to 55-60. As long as it stays on the trailer it'll be a 100 mph boat. :D I love these Rogers Custom Boats. I've checked out, in detail, the fiberglass work on a Tahiti, Biesemeyer, Eliminator, Crusader tunnel, Challenger, Miller, Sleekcraft's (3), and nothing compares with the fiberglass work on a Rogers - yet.
