On a BBC how much endplay should there be when using a thrust plate and torrington bearing? I've heard about .005 - .010. Is this correct?

Do you have an aluminum timing chain cover? If so set the endplay to zero and once the motor warms up the expansion of the metals should give you .002-.003 endplay.

the more end play the harder its gonna B on the Dist. gear/shaft etc.
on our Drag bikes we'd set'em .001, and that was on a roller mill, just cuz we wanted to keep the roller from wiping the cam lobe back & forth.
