I havent been on here much lately. I have been burried in work. Some people have been asking for updates so here they are. :) Here are a couple of pictures of the first boat that we are building. It just got back from the interior shop yesterday and I could not be happier. The guys over at Extreme Marine did an awesome job on the interior for this thing. :) The motor is set in place, the boat is wired up, just have a couple of loose ends to finish up and then it is time for it to go in the water. It looks like the maiden voyage is going to be July 28th in Parker. :)
The 2nd boat is coming back to our shop first thing next week and we are going to be getting started on that one. That one is getting a Merc 6.2 in it. Open bow basic family ski boat. ;)

Danny,
Congratulations, the boats look great. I may have to talk to you about a jet sometime next year. I am really missing my jet boats. This would be a great classic with some big power and a jet drive. :D

Thanks for the compliments. :) They really mean a lot to me. :) I have been a slave to this boat for the past 2-3 months and it seems like I am definitely on the home stretch. :) Anytime when you build a new boat, you are always making templates, patterns, laying things out, etc... All of that stuff that takes a TON of time. It seems that I have gotten things pretty much setup how I want them so the next ones will go much easier and much faster than the first one. :) I am super happy with how the first one has turned out. :) Someone is going to get one VERY nice piece!!! :) I am definitely proud to put my name on this boat! :)
Boat turned out great . What gear ratio did you choose on the drive ?
Both this boat and the 6.2 boat will be receiving Bravos with 1.50 gear ratios. (XR on this one & std on 6.2) Mercury recommended starting out at 1.50 on the 6.2 and adjusting depending on the setup. They say that we should be just fine with the 6.2. :)

Let me know when. I am very anxious to get a jet out on the market. These boats ran great with jets in them and that is a BIG market that I want to get into. :)

Both. The non-skid is gel...the non-skid is a pattern in the mold. It is the best non-skid for both looks and function...not the sand type of non-skid.

I think you ought to lay one up with a splash of the Trident's graphics....just to see what happens.....:D
Looking sharp, seriously. I think there's probably a nice baby boomer market that would prefer the classic lines of something like this over the current stylings. Nice work.

Looks just like our old Howard 21' Open Bow River Cruiser. Ours was a 2002 and we really loved that boat it just got to small for our growing family. Looks awesome, great job taking over a timeless design. Nick

Both boats look great. Love the colors on number 2. Would have looked better without that hole in the bow IMO.
It's to bad there's not a way to sit the engines down lower to take some of the bubble out of the motor cover.
Did I miss them or have any kind of prices been posted on these. I know it's a wide range based on hoe the customer wants it built.

If your referring to this picture, the back bench was taken out of the boat at this time. It is do-able though, in these boats though, as I've seen it done before in the past. You need to move the front seats a little closer to the dash, and a couple other things.
The back to back seating, with a bench tends to lend itself more to the "cab forward" designs of the Ultra's and the newer daycruisers.

Danny;
The boats are stunning. I've never met you, but it is clear to take a great deal of pride in everything you do. I've never seen you post pictures of anything you've built that didn't reflect a great deal of passion for your work.
Most folks with that passion go far in life, because that kind of commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and intensity just isn't as common as it used to be.
If I ever get to see one of your boats close up, I'm sure I'll find the pics didn't do it justice...
These new pieces just pull at my heartstrings, maybe someday when the SkiSanger is worn out, we'll come south and talk.

If not back to back seats, how about a pair of those silver Coleman coolers with custom seat covers to match the boat's color scheme, and some sort of way to hold them down in place of back to back seats.
It would only cost a couple hundred extra and be very cool.

That thing is sweet. What motor is sneaking in that picture?
the boat looks familiar, who was the original design made by?

Danny, I am a current owner of a 1980 Howard Custom Cruser Whaler, I remember a while back when Greg from G & S marine told me that the molds from that deck style were destroyed. Its great to see the same hull being produced again! Every time I take my boat out the "old timers" come around and talk about how "they just dont make boats like that any more". It looks like my days as the only one on the lake with the "old school" custom cruser are numbered.
Ray.

Sorry I have not been able to respond to this thread up until now. I am burried in trying to get the first 3 boats done. I am hoping that this one will be 99% complete by the end of this upcoming week. After that, testing begins. :) Boat #2 is right behind it and boat #3 as well. :) Definitely a fun project and I am completely happy with how well these things are turning out. :)
