this is the v-drive forum. If they want to bash "pumps" - so be it! I would not call that a bashing- flatbottom jet=oxymoron - just some fun jabbing. They did not go trolling in the jet forum like many of NTAC jet racing team does in the v-drive forum. Franky says relax.
But...What the HELL is up with that Flatty jet in that picture??????!!!?!?!? That is a Mandella short deck! They never made a jet! People give me shit for cutting the deck on my Long Deck, but putting a pump on a Mandella is blasphemy!!

Well I'm not afraid to admit it...I know quite a few people that have Jet boats..i can honestly say that about Six of them are very fast...They put alot more money in them to run the #s a v-drive does.. Don't make no sense to me but ...Some of these jet boats will give alot of v-drives a run for there money..Even Ours....

JUst Maybee he droved thar thingie over for a conversun! That Hog Hotel next to her is a bonifide BOAT REPAIR FACILITIE! IN Desguise of course. Also note the flatness of that transom instead of the Mandella gentle curved style. This may be a rare Continental that had all the looks of a Mandella but was flat at the rear making jet installation easier. Hallett also made early jets. Am I all wet here? IN CONCLUSION, I like the missing cav support on the left side to allow for Pump torquing!!! HAULSGLASSBUB...just a jerk

I've been lurkin' long enough....trashin my buddys Mandella Flat Jet eh....well yes it is a JET!!!! found a brass tag in the lamination stating it was custom built for a mister Pasquletti by Mandella.they were good buddies and raced together.. Nate called his wife in OK. but he passed away a few years back ..she sent Nate some original pics of the boat back in the day...was called the Purple Pumper...and the barn next to the boats has seen more restorations than I can even try to count...home of Midnight Boat Wurks...and thats no crap..by the way Nate will have the boat at Lake Whitney this weekend....OK I'm thru venting... :D wink By the way they did make a jet..one anyways...wonder what it's worth ???? :p

I am a lurker! But I have to make a comment about "new" Vdrive boats.
I have one! A 2002 RaysonCraft by DeFir Marine. Personally I like the fact
they are simple and don't brake. I hang with Jets, I/O's and outboards.
There is always some problem with them.
I bought my First Vdrive in 88. It was a 1978 20' Spectra. A great boat. I never
did anything, but change the oil and freshen the motor. I had it until it was
destroyed in a garage fire. Only thing that ever broke was the starter. Not
bad for a 1978! And, it was my fault.

TBT if offshore racers are so badass, how come they have to hire someone to work the throttles for them while they steer. Talk to some of the circle racers on here who handle throttle, steering and trim(cav plates) while racing other boats at 100+.
