This is the 50 th year drag boat racing first started at Lake Ming. You would have thought that the boat racing powers to be would have celebrated this with some sort of fanfare. 50 years is a long time for a sport to survive. the sport has come a long way in safety and yet very little of the history of the sport has been documented. It's like all the old times are handed down by word of mouth and just recently we lost a good friend who could have shared a few of those memories with us. Does anyone know when NJBA started they should have some sort of mile stone coming up. It a sad day when we have a sport that we love so much and we really don't have a history of it.

I believe NJBA started in 72 maybe 71. Its in one of my old magazines somewhere and there are many write ups in the old rags about the earliest days of Dragboat racing.
