Question if you have a motor set up with a cam, geo. is good motor runs fine and you take the cam and have it reground to change the lift and duration have you now changed the geometery to which you have to run a diff push rod thus getting you back to where you were, after all you are not changing the distance from the center line of the cam to the top of the nose???

Yes, if the cam is re ground for more lift they cut material off the base circle of the lobe dropping the lifter lower in the bore. Any change in cam/valve train it would be prudent to recheck geometery, better safe than sorry.

As far as the valve is conserned have you gained more lift with the distance from center to the nose top staying the same??

Yes because the distance measuered across the base circle at the from the center line is smaller so effectively the lift is 1/2 higher by however much the base circle was reduced.
