I've decided to put my Camaro project on hold and get the boat restored and running. I'm about half done with the engine that was going into the car, a 402 +.030. I have the heads completely redone and the guides cut down for .557 lift. I have yet to do the shortblock.
What I need to know is what kind of cam duration and compression can I run. The heads are semi-closed chamber, large runner oval ports. It's a 70 18-1/2' kindsvater. I know I need to swap out gears since the ones I have are in the 1.29 range. This will be a lake boat mainly used for crusing and some sking. I wouldn't mind passing a few jets while I was out and the first bass boat that passes me will promptly chased down and sunk.
If I can make it work I already have a single plane intake and 750 DP carb.
Any suggestions?

Forgot to add that I can have the guides cut further if I need to easily and the prop is a 11-1/2 X 15 2 blade

Are those hallcraft gears or Casale?

They're casale. I'm not 100% sure of the ratio but it's more than 1.25 and less than 1.4, 29's or 33's are my guess.
The boat sat for 9 years and I haven't taken the case out yet so I don't know what condition they're in, all I know is that I doubt I'll be running enough hp to run that much gear.
