I am still looking at used boats, this one is nice except for this. What are the odds of getting this repaired so you could not see the repair site. Is this a $500-$1000 fix? Kind of hard to make this purchase without knowing what the final outcome will be.
thanks!

That's a lofty goal, particularly given that the damage is in a faded area. It can be made to look really, really good. Your best hope is to find someone really good who can make it unnoticeable.

I had a couple like that. I brought my boat to Wilkes marine and he has a guy that comes to his shop and does it there. Turned out awesome. I'm sure there are other places also but his guy did a great job on my fixes. :D

My guess is it would cost you 4x that much to make it so you could never see it. I have some small stress cracks and I was amazed at how much they wanted to fix them.

$2k-$4k to fix that? I highly doubt it would be close to that. In fact his guess of $500-$1000 would be a lot closer IMO.

Yea, I guess because I had like 7 colors to blend. I can see what your saying. Scratch my comment.

I had a corner that I hit a dock with and it took a little chunk out of. It was white and a little into the blue. And I had the front regelled where the trailer had worn through it also and all done for around $600.

I agree. He's reasonably priced, and he's really good at color match.

thats an easy fix. even large scratches like this are by far less work than a barely noticable stress crack. well to do it correctly anyway. give todd @ TRG fiberglass a call. BTW, gel coat doesnt fade like paint does. meaning the penetration of oxidation is far less with gel coat and can be lightly color sanded and buffed to a clear deep shine very easy. if you like the boat, talk to the salesman/owner and come up with a discounted price for the trouble. $500-$1000 is completely fair.

Easy fix, but the dealers usually have all the good guys in the summer hanging around their shop doing insurance work.
Put a DCB sticker over it:D :D :D
