How about a '50's 392 Hemi?
A time warp deal in a wood deck flat. Runs perfectly, hasn't been in the water in YEARS. Perfect condition.
Dual quads on a low rise, basically a stock unmodified '92.
Posted in gearheads as well.
Gonna separate the motor and boat, and I want to know a realistic figure that the motor can be offed for.

Why would you go and seperate it? It's the perfect nosty deal as is. Hell, I'd even consider a v-drive like this.

Cause a '92 is a special animal suited to someone that really wants it.
The motor going in the boat will be 100 times better, trust me.

So what do you guys think a perfectly preserved, stock-unmodified '92 is worth?

I know they are very expensive to rebuild. I do remember a guy paying $2500 for one back about 5 years ago for a T bucket. I hauled it for him. But did not have any dual quad deal.
Tough call. Maybe check Hemmings on line and get an idea.

Let's see some pics, dammit! :D
So, what engine is going into this boat to replace the Hemi?

I don't have pics.

Well I have heard of them going for about 5k, but that was on ebay so porbly 3.5k is about right. All depends on the guy who buys it.....

Why is it so much to rebuild them???? I mean you can get parts... yes they are more but not that much.

No complete motors though.
Figured 10 large for something like this. I guess 5 is better than nothing.

Thanks, forgot about hemmings
Two cars, one complete '92, one car had pictures. The pictures were of a beautifully restored convertable New Yorker. Damn that car was nice looking.
The motor was $2500, single carb to pan. "Block had crack near freeze plug" or some shit.
Nothing near as nice.

The old Hemi "whale" motors are best left to the retro rodders. A well built Wedge with some new aftermarket aluminum heads can outrun them.
Check this site/thread and PM "napabob" (he is a member on this board too)about a value for that motor. It looks like there's a number to a guy redoing a 61 Sanger, that may be interested, in that thread too............

Napabob has a resto thread on Banderlog, and is looking for '92 stuff, this would be right up his alley.

That is my point, these parts are hard to find and best let to the guys who know how to make them run.

Don't part it out.... splitting up history just bastardizes both pieces. All you'll do is make the hull just another hull, and the 392 just a bunch if pieces.

No way Roost,
The motor is worth way more complete.running in the hands of someone more suited to that animal.
Don't fret Sir. The motor going in is 100 times better, in horsepower and nostalgia, trust me when I say this.

wsuwrhr,
Contact Bob Walker:
http://www.hothemiheads.com/#contact
You need to supply casting numbers.
The engine could be a Chrysler, Dodge, or De Soto (engine type can determine value).
My HEMI is a 1958 392 CID Chrysler model 58C. Casting numbers started at 1001, the number on my engine block is 58C1199.
I am new to HEMI's, but have done research in obtaining rebuild information.
The link below is for engine types, used 'Details' for model numbers
http://www.thehemi.com/engines.php
A rebuilding page:

Good luck,

I don't have any casting numbers since it isn't in my possession.
I guess I was just looking for a ballpark figure. So I could get an idea what it would be worth.

Brian,
Dave Giddings owns this Sanger (see below) with the original 392 HEMI, it would be a loss to boating history see the engine separated from the boat. The boat is also listed on the Classic V-Drive Club of America.
I am still hoping that a past owner of my boat will contact me regarding the original HEMI that it came with in 1963 to fully restore it. He bought the boat to remove the engine and sold it (the boat) to the person I bought it from.
