In the market for a handheld GPS unit - simple, reliable, and accurate for location and speed - any suggestions on makes and models? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Garmin Etrex Legend. If you don't need navigation ("turned left ahead", "turn right"...type stuff), then the Legend will suit your needs just fine for ~ $100-150. I got mine New on ebay for about hundred bucks.
Good Luck,

Check for a used one. Craig's list or even E Bay. You can get a screamin deal.

I did a lot of research on these handheld's and this one came to the top of my list, so I bought it. It has worked flawlessly boating through the Delta which is a place you can get turned around real easy. It does turn by turn and has lot's of functions that are really cool and in color:) . I got a good deal on it from Amazon and a $50 dollar rebate to boot last year. it lists for $246 but, I think is on sale for $184.99

I like the Garmin units much better than the Magellan ones, they have better quality higher resolution screens, and a much simplier and easier to navigate menu system. All around better units imo
