Lay up ?

Ive heard the terms referring to laying up a boat such as infuse and something about vaccum bagging. Can someone explain what these terms mean.

vaccum bagging is just that, they put the glass in a mold then put it in a huge air tight bag and vacuum all of the air out. thsi way it ads pressure to the piece being formed. I saw it on "how its made" on the discovery channel.
