OK, I know it V-drive forum, but I'll pull a V-drive with it!
Got a 2001 3/4 ton Suburban, it turns 2400 RPM at 70 MPH, does it look like I have the 3.73 or 4.10 gears? If the speed and rpms can't establish, what code am I looking for in the glove box?
Thanks
JB

There IS a tag on the housing somewhere. Usually under a bolt. Are your RPM/speed numbers in or out of overdrive?????? An old rule of thumb was a 4.11:1 gear would be about 1/2 RPMs to speed. Example, 3K would be about 60. This isn't exact because of things like tire size, (height), but approximate. If your numbers were in drive, not overdrive, I would guess the 373 gear. But look around on the differential, I'll bet there is a tag...........There is also a formula to figure it to the knats ass with the proper data..........MP

If you have stock tires (30"?) I'd say you have 4.10's.

Your code is in the door. My 04 gmc has 4.10 gears and at 70 I'm closer to 3000 rpm. More than likely you have the 3.73s

I think 2400 with a 30% OD would be a little faster than that with the 3.73s.....MP

Cant say on a 01 but the option codes on GM trucks were on a laminated sticker inside the glove box at one time.

Thanks guys, code says Gt5 and G80. I will drive it in 3rd gear tommorow, should that be 1/1 from the tranny? I think the 245/75 16s are almost 31" high.
Thanks

245/75-16
245mm width, height is 75% of width, rim size 16 inches
245 x 75%= 183.75mm height from rim to thread
183.75 x 2 = 367.5mm
367.5mm / 25.4 = 14.4685 inches
14.4685 + 16 inches rim = 30.4685 inches total height (diameter)
I would say that actual size would roughly be 30 inches. Hope that helps.
