I don't know if the cold weather of Colorado will be good for the back. When my buddy sells his house in Corona. He's taking the family to Lake Travis, Austin Texas.

Mouzer....had a friend move to Bend, Oregon and he LOVES it up there. He was a local So Cal boy and he swore he'd be back in a few years. Well its been like 3-4 years now and he now swears he'll never move back.
Had some friends move to Austin, TX area too and they aren't coming back to Norco ever again. :) :D :)

Austin is too expensive and the people are freaks.
There are a dozen or so lakes in North Texas that would suit your needs. School districts are good for the most part, look at the TEA website for performance evaluations.
You can buy a very nice home with acreage here for a good price.

Mouser, if you are interested I can send you some information from this area. Housing costs, school info, local job info etc. Just let me know.
I really liked Idaho, there are parts there are affordable and very beautiful. The schools seem nice and I know there are jobs in the trucking industry. Thats one of my choices if I ever leave Cali. Good luck Mouzer and I hope things work out for you and your family.
