Greg where were you on Monday??? There was a great job for Metropolitan Marine up at Needles. I was tubing the kids down river from Needles and low and be hold theres a 25ft (Eliminator/Advantage) SUNK. Nothing marking it except a couple of clear plastic bottles. Looked scary seeing a boat floating bow up but completly sumerged jawdrop . We circled the boat because there were alot of boats coming up river and we didn't want anyone to hit it. A couple of guys show up and they are the divers hired to raise the boat. They said that they could see were someone had already hit the deck with a propeller eek! . If you were the driver that hit the sunk boat you would be like "WHAT THE HELL"  was that, because it was in the middle of the river, it's deepest part. The cost to raise the boat...$125.00 a foot cry . See, going home early from the river can be costly there "LITTLE BUDDY"!!!!!

Billy there are sometimes when a person is told to be home at a certain time. This could have been one of those times. :D

Billy- Just out of curiosity, who would have been liable if you had hit that thing and done some damage to your boat? Are they supposed to mark it better or leave someone till they can? Or is it just your own crappy luck if you do hit it?

Oh man, I'm bummed. Recovery from the river with the current is a always a challenge. Especialy when the river is up and flowing about 7-11 mph's. It's very different from a lake job and the current shows no mercy. I've done several recovery jobs out on the river between Havasu and Laughlin and every one is differnet. Every job presents a differnet set of circumstances and always an opportunity to learn something new.
I sure would have liked to see it, even better would have been able to dive on it and do the recovery. Not to worrie though...there will be more before the season is over.
Any idea why it went down??? Did you watch the recovery effort???
And...it's likly the owner would be responsible for any damage if you hit it as his vessel has now became a submerged hazard.

You know Greg if you had been wearing the pants on Sunday you would of been able to stay at the river and done the recovery :D :D :D . With that now said I did not stay and watch the recovery effort, but I would of loved to have seen it come up. I always wonder what it would take to sink a boat of that size on such a small water way

I would have stayed there with you but some of us actually have to work...ON MONDAYS!!!!!!!
I tell ya, It dosen't take much to sink a boat and they go down fast, way fast. I would guess that boat you saw went down as a result of a mass mechanical failure or just a loose nut behind the wheel operating the craft.
Curious if anybody else saw or heard about it???

Acceptance, just out of curiosity, what do you charge for recovery? I may need to just keep your number handy, you never know when you will need it. :) Your contact info is almost like insurance.

I agree, it's a good number to have handy if you ever need it and it gets your boat back on it's trailer and limits the damage.
Typically 125.00 per foot usually takes care of it. Other factors must be considered but generaly a buck twenty five a foot.
For fellow board members...it's kinda like helpin out a buddy so the cost would be a whole lot less then the normal rate. :D wink :D
Amazingly enough, most insurance carriers have provisions in your policy for vessel recovery :) .

I just wrote down your contact info and put it in my wallet. I will give you a call if I see someone sinking or if I ever do.
Thanks alot.
BTW: You still selling the boat? My dad watched "River Rats Vol. 1" with me and I told him your boat was for sale, he said "When your mom gets her settlement I am going to ask her to buy me it, if it is still avaialable."

Viagra, to funny Sangster!!! Thanks for the kind words too.
Yes it is still for sale and the motor is out to be freshened. Making some positive changes and redoing the floors and some hardware while it's apart.
Hopfully you never need our services but if you do, we will take care of you. And please do, tell a friend.
Thanks, Greg

Greg, I rolled a little tape of the sunken boat after they floated and drug it to shore, it was floating from the airbags but still submerged. Someone said he hit bottom while the river was down but I dont know exactly why it sunk.
