I don't think Hot Boat was in print in 76. There seem to be a hiatus in the 70's.
The guy behind ***boat mag was Chuck Pierce. He was doing the Race boat and industry news (paper) and started up some magazines in the mid to late 70's and I think ***boat was restarted around 78 or 79 because I have many from 83 that read as volume 5.
This was a Chuck Pierce publication. That is a Howard on the cover.

Send an e-mail to Kevin Spaise at ***boat. That guy worked for what seems like every mag of that era and he probably could break down the history of every publication.
