I am looking to replace mechanical fuel pump and I run a engine cover so I take it I need a Marine style. I can't find one on line. I called RexMar and they said Holly discontinued them and they weren't sure how to help me. I don't see anything on summit either. Where do I get this thing, does it have to be Marine style etc.
Thanks.

are you wanting electric pump? If so, try a search on here. If it can be avoided, avoid it. If they break on the water(as they often do) you are stranded. Thats a waste of a way to ruin an otherwise good day on the water. Buy a new mechanical if yours is old and run it another 10 years without worrying about it.

Yes, I want to replace my mechanical with a mechanical. I agree that I am not interested in broken electric pumps. Not for my application. Family cursing.

Go to NAPA. I just replaced my mechanical pump for a PCM 351w, and they had the part numbers for it. Less expensive than the local boat stores also. It comes with the marine "tag" if you will and the proper vent system.

Damn, $102 for a stock replacement pump. Any other options out there. They are not listing the Holly 110 GPH pump for a Ford. Maybe you can't get it anymore????

Hey Socalmoney, I tried to find a mechanical for the 460 too. Found one for way too much. I went with a mallory electric marine pump, super quiet mounted it up front by my tank. Dont have the part # handy but i believe summit or jegs has them. manual pumps also fail, Ive had the same holley blue elctric on my airboat for twelve years and it has never failed me. And its pumping that dry aviation fuel which is notoriosly bad for electric pumps. Just carry an extra sqeeze ball for an outboard fuel line, You wont get home fast, but you will get there!!!

Ford 460. I see pumps available at Summit but I don't see anything for Marine use.

Call Jegs 800-345-4545 Holley red pump 7psi marine Part# 510-712-801-1 $117.99 or mallory 7psi marine Pt# 650-4110m $183.99. I have a holley blue on my airboat, its a little noisy but reliable. On my jet I went with the mallory cause its so quiet. As far as reliability, I will keep you posted, only have 2 hours on it. I think they wanted 280 for the mechanical one i found, Hardin marine or somewhere im not sure. Hope this helps. ( motor is 429 ford)

Bingo! Just call them up and they'll have a Ford one for ya. You might even want to PM Hack Job on the boards because I think he might have one of the Clay Smith Mechanicals for a Ford laying around somewhere.
Good luck,
Chris

Try to Google : Carter Fuel Pump or Carter Mechanical Fuel pump.
The Clay Smith pump for $ 100 is a good price. It's for a baot so it won't be cheap.

summit has the mallory 110 marine version, thats where i got mine..

I thikn the price has gone up a bit though, i dont remember paying that much. The 110 model doesnt require a pressure regulator, and mine holds at the factory set 7 PSI.

Hey socalmoney, I have a 1978 eliminator cruiser w/bbc and an aftermarket pump.Single carb and not alot of h/p, but it is a v/drive and I am running 70 mph. Marine pumps mean they have a diapham rupture return line for vapor control in bilge. I don't know if you have a enclosed engine compartment or not.Regardless you don't want fuel vapors in you're bilge, just in ofcase, backfire, or wiring issue.I'f by some chance you have a pump with a screw type pump instead of a unitak design you can go to the local parts store and buy a new diaphram kit. Beats the hell out of spending 100.00 for a pump that is marine stamped. Carter makes them. Sorry but I got fed up with going marine crap years ago and found that most marine stuff is automotive aftermarket with a kick and double the price.
