I'm having a hard time picking colors and design for the new entrylevel DCB starter boat, have been threw the media center without any luck and every issue of ***boat. Don't think I have'nt already measured, the room is there.Yeah, but with the weight of three of those behemoths, your transom might tell you to f*&k off! wink :p
Seriously, I would think additional bracing would be a must.....no?

How much would a good (i.e. 300x or updated 300) lower unit cost for this thing?

When you say updated I would guess you are talking about the larger prop shaft and bolt in driveshaft seal carrier. This newer style case will be hard to find used and if you did it would be spendy at that. A standard 3liter sportmaster could be found for the 2-3thousand.

EVERY boat with a 300promax I have inquired about has replaced a lower shaft with a "UPDATED SHAFT" Are there any problems with the new 300x you know of MR Boatmaster?...toby
PS: Make WALTERSCAMP a deal he NEEDS this motor bad!!!!!!!!

I have not seen failers on smaller boats (22and under). Most of the problems I have seen have been on larger boat that run hard in big water. One thing to keep in mind is it will be harder to come by props for the new larger shaft. At least props that you can try before you buy. Then again for a man of your stature money is no object, so props will be growing on trees. HE HE! P.S. this motor is not mine but I will do my best on a deal.

Try prop's before you buy, Where can I do that? I didnt know you could do that, Best idea ever! NOW, as far as that whole money/stature thing....Im not the one who was told of a 25ft daytona and bought it THE NEXT DAY!!!! I live in a tiny little almost condemd house, Work for almost penuts at a car dealer, and am getting the SMALLEST boat in the DCB line-up

Tob is a crack up. Call up any good prop shop and I'm sure they will be more than happy to trade your prop for 3 of theirs to try out.
That is weird. I had to put on a new shaft on my 225 when I bought it. It only had 140 hrs on it. Sounds like they make crappy shafts to me.
Things that make you go, hmmmm.

When you say replaced shaft, are we talking prop or driveshaft? Did the shaft fail do to corrosion on the sealing surface or did it snap. Tobtek if your prop shop or dealer will not let you try a 500 to $1200 prop before you buy it, call me any prop I have in stock I will send you and let you try it. Are single engine Mach22 running coppers or cleavers?

They replaced the driveshaft due to corrosion and said it was owner neglect. It was funny because DCB did all the maintenance. They replaced the shaft and parts for free. I just had to pay for labor.
It sounds like Merc needs to be making shafts out of a different metal. Like Ti! :D

I will for sure be in contact with you for prop's when the time comes...
