I'm kicking around the idea of designing the ultimate Dog Park. One with water features, long runs, obstacle courses, and owner friendly. Ever seen a park that was over the top? Help me out with this one. pic's? websites? This could get interesting. Thanks in advance all.

I can't comment on the dog park but I would like to mention I find your second hand posts to be smooth and satisfying, smoker.

Yeah. The jerks around here will just come in here, run around for a while, take a shit, and then leave. http://www.***boat.com/ubb/mad.gif

Here's the park I take my dog to, when she needs to take a particularly large dump. She finds it most agreeable.

I'll play... being a dog owner, and now a rescue puppy owner I will give you my .02.
My older dog doesn't need a leash, and likes to run around with other dogs. That's great. I am not sure about the youngun yet though, so I have been looking around SD for a fenced in dog park and haven't found one yet. I don't feel comfortable with taking her off the leash yet, and I have owned dogs that no matter how much they like you... they smell one skunk, raccoon or deer and they are gonzo.. (hound dogs in particular). Having a free run, but in a large area (like in the channel in Havasu) would be nice.
Water, but not around any sand or mud. Nightmare for the car ride home. Dog beach as an example... Wet is fine, wet and muddy sucks. Anywhere there is water, you should have fake grass for the dogs to run around on afterwards.
One concept that didn't seem to get further than San Diego... not that I have seen anyway is the self service dog wash. We have them in Coronado, OB, PB, El Cajon, IB etc... It is great, most are located walking distance from Dog Beach or a dog park of some sort, and they have a well designed station for you to wash your dog, use good pet shampoos and conditioners designed for them and are a wealth of knowledge on dog grooming. We take Izzy (and now Tia) there after the beach every time we go. Ends up about $10/dog, but you don't have to deal with the mess, and the dog is infinitely more comfortable than being chained to a post and hosed off. So much so that they like getting bathed. Makes it more fun for us too. I hugely recommend such a capacity on premesis.
Lots of poop bags, and a long run for fetch. Maybe even some "community" toys like rope pulls and stuff that are tied to the ground, but you can play with your dog using the end or something.
Training classes, with a separate area for them. Big deal... especially obedience training.
Snake training, bark abatement etc... all on site.

A large, well stocked bar would be a good Idea too....:D

Good stuff Wes. Rescue puppy as in pound puppy? Or training for search and rescue.

Border Collie Rescue pup... She was a little too much to handle I think for the last folks.
Smart dogs will get over on you if not properly trained or supervised. My dogs stay with me 24/7 for the most part, so they get socialized really quickly with people, animals and gardeners... :D
The only think Tia rescues is wrappers out of the trash... she is really good at that though.

Cool thing you did to save those dogs I must say. Cousin has a couple of them. Sometimes a little to smart. Reason I asked, my sister does the search and rescue thing for FIMA and some private agency's. Yeah you read that right. She has a "live find" dog. Always the first one in. Mexico City, Oklahoma City, 9-11 NYCTT, Katrina. Been all over the place with her dog. She digs it but a little hard on her mind at times.

If you want to get RiverDave's business, you'll need copious quantities of Silver Bullets and Marlboroughs.
