A man crashed a van into a North Hills strip club Wednesday morning, then led police on a chase, injuring two officers by intentionally ramming two squad cars, before being arrested, authorities said.
The van slammed into the structure housing the Valley Hall Cabaret in the 8500 block of Sepulveda Boulevard at 12:39 a.m., said a Los Angeles police Mission Hills Station representative.
The suspect then unsuccessfully attempted to run over pedestrians and patrons of the strip club, said Sgt. Kim Kempton of the Mission Station. His motive was not immediately clear.
The man fled as police arrived, she said. He ran red lights and at times, drove the wrong way down side streets, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man also drove the wrong way down the the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway at one point during the case, struck a vehicle and continued driving, Kempton said, adding that no one was hurt in the collision.
The suspect stopped the van, threw it into reverse several times, striking two police cruisers, said the Mission Hills representative.
Two officers were hospitalized, said Sgt. Steve Cornell of the Mission Station. Both were released by 5:30 a.m., he said, adding that one of them suffered a fractured arm.
The van eventually came to a stop and the driver ran away but was tackled by officers several minutes later and arrested, she said.
