Was with adelphia cable..now Timewarner. They do not provide firewall protection for windows 98..where can I download a free firewall program. Went to downloads.com and could not find any for windows 98..also using AVG free edition for my virus program..any free ones better..thanks

Get a router -they all have a built in firewall. They work the best and interfere the least.

No it doesn't. You might want to google for something that will work with 98 but I think you will end up finding much. Time to upgrade to a new OS

It's not free but Omniquad has one for $18 that supports 98. You can try it before paying.

on a side note:
If you have multiple PC's on your network you need a personal firewall along with the one built into most routers to protect you from the other PC's that are behind the routers firewall.
I.E - kid comes home, opens an email, virus is inside your network.

Hot boat will be a lot less slower with a new system. Search still might not work.

Don't mean to hijack, but several co-workers have Vista OS on their work computers. All kinds of problems with any Excell type programs, printer conflicts, data transfer conflicts with XP systems. Anybody else feel Vista is a POS?

Yes. Stick with XP SP2
