I've seen large diameter PVC pipe (maybe 8-12" diameter) on top of work truck racks and now I need to buy one (for storing my pool umbrellas outside) with a couple of caps.
I found a irrigation pipe company that can get it but their 10" diameter schedule 40 white PVC in a 20' length - about twice what I want - is (gulp) $254 not including caps.
Anyone know where I can get this for less? Do you know where they sell this stuff for work trucks?

I'm in the fire sprinkler business and we should have some scraps at my shop. We are in La Habra and I live in Yorba Linda.

Made a drinking fountain at my brothers with a pice of scrap from a local jobsite.......
I'm sure you could wrangle a piece up if you go to some construction sites near you.

go hang around where they are puting in new sewer pipe... if the end with the seal on it gets messed up they can not be used.... The contractor will normally give/sale for a low price. just bring a truck and a friend. those things are alot heavier then they look.
or you could try coragated "drain" pipe... that stuff is fairly cheap and you can get it up to 24"

I have another Idea......
Concrete forms... they are cheap and you can get them in 8ft lengths.
Just had some light matt, some resin and you would be set.
Oh and the are cheap.

Call a water well supply company and ask for SDR 21 (200#) pipe or SDR 26 (160#) pipe. Both are lighter than SCH 40. The SDR 21 pipe is more likely to be available than the SDR 26 pipe, but if you could find it, it would be cheapest. If you have an environmental well materials supply house local, they may have 10-footers in threaded pipe, it could still be expensive though, the threads are not cheap to cut but its worth a look, and easier to carry.

If you make it to Kingman I have plenty of water and sewer pipe in those sizes that are now scrap. If the get discolored from the sun I can't use them.

Here in Phoenix you can buy 10" sch. 40 PVC for under $8/ft. ... but, you don't want to be using PVC out in the Sun because long exposure to UV will make it Brittle and it won't last ...
