I need to find the best (affordable) material for cutting in a CNC mill, that will be suitable for a fiberglass mold plug. The materials I have found online so far are high density urethane foam (20# density) and Rennshape material.
Both of these are very expensive and heavy. I need to make two plugs roughly 40" long, 25" wide and 20" tall. In the urethane foam, those pieces were $2500 EACH and would weigh over 600#. Have not found a price for the Rennshape, but know it's similar in cost and weight.
Any other options out there? Better places to buy? I spoke with a guy at General Plastics in WA.
At those prices, I might be better off to make it of laminated wood.

Machine it out of wood and lay some resin on the milled shape bud.
I know a guy who could do it for you.
Internet access now at the shop.

That's kinda been my idea as a last resort.
Brian, call me. Got something else I want to talk to you about...and you still owe me a quote. ;)
