So I just back from a 2 week business trip to Phoenix, AZ. the trip quickly became more play then work but I still got the job done :)
I'd love to post pics but this is one of those trips that I'm glad I didn't bring a camera on. If my girl seen the pics from the trip I'd be in the dog house for a very long time.
Upon arriving in Phoenix I met a group of people from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I've heard stories about how much and how hardcore the New Mexicans drink.... I took home the drinking trophy after the 2 weeks and all I can say is it was a close race and I'll probably need to grow a new liver. I consumed more alcohol in a 2 week period then most people probably do in a life time.
My hotel was right next to a bar called the Tilted Kilt. A few people in the hotel told me the place goes off on the weekends but I never got the chance to find out because after seeing Barcelonas I knew where I was spending my Friday night. Most bars, clubs etc. I have been to have billboards advertising things on the walls above the urinals, Barcelonas has a giant mirror with TV's in it! Out front of Barcelonas you didn't know if you were at the bar or the Ferrari dealership there was a fleet of Ferrari's, Porsches, and all the top of the line AMG Mercedes.
Saturday we decided to get out of Dodge for a couple days so I took a couple of the New Mexicans out to So-Cal to show them how we do it on the West Coast. A trip down the city walk, a couple hundred dollar bar tab at the Saddle Ranch, and a day at the US Open in HB had them convinced they wanted to move to So-Cal... Well.. At least until they seen the cost of houses.
We cruised back into Phoenix Sunday night. Got pretty tanked at the Tilted Kilt Monday and Tuesday then hit Barcelonas on Wednesday. After walking from our hotel to Barcelonas we were told at the door it was closed to the public and if we weren't in the party we couldn't get in. Their secuirty there isn't very tight because we managed to sneek in and drink the night away. I was misquoted the price of beers by the bartender, argued with the bar managed, and actually had the bar manager throw money at me and tell me to get the f*ck out! It was a pretty fun night.
Thursday night me and the New Mexicans partied at the hotel and probably drank every liqour store within a 5 mile radius out of beer. Friday night I came home and now it's time to recover.
All in All Phoenix is an awesome place. Somewhere I might even consider living someday. However I will say that if you go to Phoenix (esp. Scottsdale) expect to recieve horrible service in the bars and restaraunts, the wait staff is just about the rudest and unfriendliest I've encountered anywhere I've ever been before.
