I can get a new 28 Skater w/ 300x's for about 150k. I would not pay 5k for that.

The sad thing is, that 23' Daytona could be a pretty damn nice boat. :( Granted, it will never be state of the art with all the changes in style over the last 15 years, but with twin 280 motors, or even twin 200's / 225 pm's, it would be a nice set up. Someone would need to get it cheap enough to be able to strip it out and start with a blank hull. New trailer, modern (non ski boat interior), all new hardware including motor brackets, etc.
Unfortunately, you need to get it for free and then search for quality used stuff to be able to put it together nicely without spending more than it is worth. frown

Have you guys seen the Cougar MTR 25 for sale? It's listed at 19,900 the last time I looked. It has twin Evinrude 225, although on the cowling they say 260's. Do you think that this is a good buy. It's a 1985. The pictures look pretty clean. The guy claims 80-85 mph. 30 hours on bottom end, what ever that means. I'm new to this type of boat. I've never had an outboard before. Thanks for any info.
