I'm saying goodbye to the Olds stuff. Now I'm going with the BBC.
I need:
*the coupler to go from a 70's 454 crank to Berkley pump
*flywheel or flexplate for same
*bell housing to fit the Berkley with starter flange
*starter for above
*marine alternator
*Intake manifold for oval port heads
*log manifolds
I'm in 97113 Oregon

where are you located? I've got a flywheel but that would be expensive to ship...I have a driveline also.

I've got the following: BBC PTO flange, driveline, Guardian rear engine mount and feet, Guardian front engine mount and feet, marine altenator (tested good) and mount, Glenwood (no names on them) logs and snails, 454 flywheel, stock starter (tested good), and a bitchin Harmon Marine driveline cover. They are all eBay bound in about a week when I'll have some more time. If it's a mediocre eBay run they'll bring $1,000 plus shipping, but I expect it to be more. Shipping the parts to you will be a small fortune just by itself. Email me at thanx@cox.net if you're still interested. Thanks, Rod.

Cool, let me know when you get the auctions going!
I seen this ad on ebay for a bellhousing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=ADME%3AX%3ARTQ%3AUS%3A11&viewitem=&item=140146246839
Do you think this will work with a berkley? The seller didn't have a clue.

No, I wouldn't use that bellhousing in a jet boat. A pair of logs and snails just like mine ended today at $365.00. I'll reply to this post when my parts go on eBay, or make me an offer...

OK, I have a pair of logs being shipped to me. Now I just need a good bell housing, PTO (what's another name for that thing?), and starter.

PTO = power take off.

A friend of mine bought a BBC PTO new for $60 from JP Marine. I wouldn't think it would be anymore at one of the larger marine shops.

I still have my old flexplate. Nothing wrong with it, I just put on an SFI certified one that I already had. You can have it if you need it...

If it will fit a 71-79 or so 454, I would love to have it. Just let me know how much you want for shipping to 97113 Oregon.

Right on, I have an edelbrock single plane Tarantula for rectangle port I would trade if interested. I am planning on sending a bunch of parts to get silver powdercoating. I can throw this in there too. right now it's like a faded pink. I'm not a big fan of faded pink.
If you don't want the trade, I'm still interested. Give me a few days to shop around and see that combo I'm going with.

Thats a Kodiak Marine Bell housing nice set up 6 bolt pattern (Borg Warner Velvet drive) with Jet hook up flange 3 point
I run a Merc top mount type starter bell housing with a mid plate and a 1/4
of a inch removed off the face where the starter sits on to make up for the loss of the mid plate.
I also have a Merc fly wheel this has a set back for the ring gear when running a top mout starter the ring gear is moved back to make up for the starter.
The nice thing about a top mount starter is if you ever swamp it there are less chance of getting the starter wet.

That's a popular question, no there is not a Buy It Now on them. There's a lot of interest in them and I don't want to cut myself short. Lot's more to come but no more BBC mounts. Thanks, Rod.

That bellhousing doesn't look like it has a starter flange. I need the starter to mount to the bellhousing because the starter boss has been busted off of my block. Hey, I got it cheap!

Correct, it does not have a flange for a starter.
I have no idea what I'm talking about... but someone once told me that the rear engine mounts that do have a starter flange are for reverse rotation engines. Is that correct? Anyone?

How much do you want for the diverter?

Boostedballs

I believe that the bellhousings that have the starter flange require a special starter that spins in reverse because it is located on the other side of the starter gear.

I expect to get about $330 for it after I re-paint it, put new bushings in it, and sell it on eBay. If you want to save me some time you're more than welcome to make me an offer.

Can anyone verify this? I don't want to end up building a boat that will do 75mph in reverse. But seriously- why would you need a counter-rotating engine in a jet? Isn't that just a prop engine thing to control torque steer in a twin engine setup? I think a jet wouldn't care so much.

top mount starters need a reverse rotation starter because they are installed pointing the other direction. i think that is what was meant.

That diverter goes on eBay today, around noon I think. It's reserve is $200. I like selling on eBay, it stops me from cutting myself short and lets buyers determine what it's worth. You're definately going to want to see the pictures of this one before making an offer on it anyway.

anyone can basically go on ebay and buy stuff. most of the folks on the hot boat boards give other members a first hand deal at a discounted price. if your reserve is $200 on ebay why not just allow a hot boat member to buy it before it goes on ebay for the $200? that way there are no fee,s to pay.

This explanation usually doesn't sit too well, it's not the first nor the last time I've been asked this qeustion. Here it goes anyway...
I've got 4 kids, a $3240 a month mortgage, my G/F's income and my income combined is about $3900. Think about that for a minute.
You, or anyone else, needs a hand I'm more than willing to lend a hand, just ask any of my friends and they will tell you that I bend over backwards a lot more often than not. I buy and sell jet boats and jet boat parts (among a lot of other things) to supplement my income, not to make friends or to give parts away. eBay gives me a forum where buyers determine what something is worth, I don't cut myself short, and the buyer is happy because I give complete and honest descriptions. That's why I sell my parts on eBay instead of just selling that Place Diverter, or any other part, here on ***boat or SoCalJetBoats.
A lot of times I get PM's from people asking me if I have something that they're looking for, depending on what they're looking for, that's where the deals come in. If they're looking for a Place Diverter, who isn't looking for a Place Diverter that doesn't have one already? Why should I sell a Place Diverter for $200 when the last one I sold on eBay brought me more than $400 (no sh!t). If they're looking for a throttle pedal, a steering collum, nozzle pivot pins, an electrical junction block for the back of a engine, etc... that's where the deals come in. Case in point, I recently sold an electrical junction block with a cover to a ***boat member for $10 - shipped to his door.

I got sniped on the front mount and alternator. Damn, it's usually me that does the sniping!
Anyway, I still need:
*Bellhousing that clamps to the jet with starter flange.
*Starter.
*Front mount.
*Alternator.
*PTO. (I have the PTO for the Olds but the flange is part of the yolk. Do I just buy the yolk part for the BBC?
my block is at the machine shop as we speak, then I'm getting hot on this project.

Do you have a flywheel or a flexplate, it'll make a difference on what PTO you need. It sounds like the Olds PTO you have is part of the driveline you have, is it? If it is, you'll need a different drivline as well. Lastly, there's two different sizes of drivelines (that I've come across) where they bolt up to the PTO. One size is called a 1350, the bolt holes measure about 2 7/16" by about 2 7/8". The other size is a 1310, which measures about 2 7/16" by about 2 1/16". I have a spare 1310 PTO for a BBC with a flexplate, I also have a spare 1310 driveline.
