trying to find a single wire alternator for a 460 ford.does anyone have a part number?at this point,even a 3 wire would work.

The 3 wire should be super easy to find. I've got a used one wire marine altenator but I've got to find out what it's worth before I sell it...

Summit has one wire alternators that are powdercoated for like $75. I have one and no problems so far.

Are the ones from Sunnit marine application? I also am looking for a alt. I had mine rebuilt last year and it took a crap again-the company(mom and pop shop) went out of biz

nope, but ya don't need a marine alt unless you've got a engine cover

I thought I read on here somewhere that someone converted an automotive GM alt to a marine alt.

finally got one last night from auto zone.its a 60amp.alt.with one wire.its from a 68 camaro,and the bolt pattern aligns with the 460 ford alt.only have to enlarge the sleve for fords larger bolts.$60.00 with core.

60 amp is plenty steve, your only drawing maybe 15-18amps while its runnin anyways.remember you gotta goose the throttle above 1500 to make it start charging;)

no,its a auto. tell them its for your car,what ever year,and you get a life time thing.the only time i guess you need a marine, if its enclosed.
