The night before she was to serve as the matron of honor at her best friend's wedding, a New Jersey woman was struck and killed by lightning, reports CBS station KYW-TV in Philadelphia.
Cindy Osler was at the rehearsal dinner Friday night when she and the best man went outside the restaurant to check their car windows.
A bolt of lightning hit Osler and tore through the pavement, killing her and knocking the best man down.
The bride says Osler was like a sister to her.
The wedding has been postponed indefinitely. Osler is survived by her husband of 25 years, three children and two grandchildren.
Lightning kills an average of 67 people yearly, according to the NOAA National Severe Storms Laboratory.
