The supervisor of the state Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement's anti-gang unit was charged Tuesday with selling the sex-aid drug Cialis to an undercover Long Beach police officer.
Henry Kim, a former Los Angeles policeman, was arrested Aug. 11 after allegedly agreeing to sell 50 of the erectile dysfunction pills for $250 to the undercover officer, who responded to an ad on the Craigslist.
The Long Beach City Attorney's Office agreed to drop four misdemeanor counts against Kim, clearing the way for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office to charge him with a felony for allegedly showing a false California driver's license and a misdemeanor charge of dispensing and furnishing drugs.
Kim is due at the Long Beach courthouse on Sept. 6.
The 40-year-old Los Angeles resident worked as a Los Angeles police officer from 1989 to 1997. In August 1998, he was hired by the state and, in October 2004, was promoted to special agent supervisor.
Kim, who is based in Commerce, is on administrative leave from his job with the state agency.

A misdemeanor for selling drugs and a felony for showing a fake ID? We've got some really focked up laws.
Since Cialis isn't a Schedule IV Narcotic, it isn't look at as bad as selling Oxy or other narcotics.

Drugs are drugs in my book. It's not a big leap from selling Cialis one day and then deciding to double down with a little meth. Maybe I'm wrong. I've never done drugs in my life, so I'm not real in touch with the drug culture.
There's just a big difference from selling something to get HIGH and something to get HARD.....Old Fart Judges can relate better.... :D

Hey Boatcop, since you're on here, I have a question. I have a friend that got a DUI in your fair town. He received a letter from the court that said he case was dismissed without prejudice. I understand the legal implications, but what's the deal?
Can't say without the details. It could be a couple of things.
1. The Officer isn't available to testify in court. (Doesn't work around here any more)
2. The County Attorney reviewed the case, and there's insufficient evidence, or problems with the investigation.
3. His lawyer convinced the prosecutor that he couldn't win.
"Without Prejudice" means that it's gone for now, but can be re-filed if whatever problems there were are rectified. But they've only got 1 year from the date of the arrest before the Statute of Limitations runs out. Unless it was felony Aggravated DUI. Then they have 7 years.
If they did the "Admin Per Se" on him, then his license or privilege to drive in Arizona is still suspended (3 months if he blew above a .08%, or 12 months if he refused the intox) If that's the case he needs to get ahold of the AZ MVD and/or the court to clear the suspension.
If he had a lawyer, he should be able to help and/or advise him on what to do now.

I'm not saying the guy didn't do anything wrong.
But selling non-narcotic prescription only drugs isn't near as bad as selling the hard stuff. It's the same as selling penicillin or other anti-biotics and the like.
Either way the guy's fooked. Legally, he'll probably get a fine and maybe community service. But he's also fooked out of his pension. 2 years short of 20.
What kind of idiot, expecially a cop, sell drugs on Craigslist.
