i plan on runnin some zoomies this labor day to race with. we run 1000ft. and i thought maybe the zoomies would add alittle pull to my midrange. anyways i went out yesterday runnin my twisties with o2 sensors and i'm runnin a steady 12-12 1/2 to 1. since the zoomies don't have a spot for a o2, and their borrowed, will it lean out the motor alittle??? will be runnin race fuel 110, 34 total, 8-9lbs boost.

well if its not gonna pick up any hp , i'm not gonna do it. i've herd twisties make more hp than zoomies, just seems like you could go alittle leaner if your able to get rid of the exhaust faster

Zoomies won't do you any good on a blown gas set-up, it actually hurt me when I tried it. Are you going to Ft. Cobb?

Sorry PE826 i would have to disagree with you on that one.My BGJ gained on et and mph.Not trying to start anycrap but in my Cheyenne and with my set-up it helped. No back pressure and the angle of the tube's made a difference for me.Just my .02 cent's.

Thats cool Jim, like you said it is likely a difference in set up. I've tried a lot of thing on my Condor that should not have worked that did and things that should have that did'nt.
Thanks Atx, It's not a superlite layup, I believe it weighs around 450#. I'm not making a huge amout of power, it's a flat top 496 with a 8-71 making a max of 17psi on alky, I've never dynoed it but it turns a 9.5" impeller ~6400rpms. Bobby the previous owner of this boat had a hulked out 540 in it and it was an absolute rocket, turning the same impeller ~7200rpms, unfortunately I broke it for him at a 1000' race.

Go for the zoomies, on my QuickData I noticed more cavitation with the zoomies = (more power). My boat liked them and the motor is setup is similar to yours.

i may have too, i checked my current headers last nite and their so damn old the collectors are about to fly off:mad: i've got some shorties i had planned on having coated, and i've already blasted them in preparation, don't want to stick them back on and them rust up over a weekend.
moose, was your boat ear shattering loud or was it manageable?

No, I did'nt know about the BB race, and right now it looks like I may not make it to Waco either, but hopefully we'll be able to make Malvern our last race of the season.

i decided against them. i cut my straight headers down last nite and sent them with a freind to have o2 bungs welded in and the weep holes/injection bungs welded up. i'm just gonna run them for the rest of the season and buy new headers over the winter. may paint my shorties stove black too:idea:

We put zoomies on the 522 (Tunnel ram Nitrous deal with twin 1050 Dominators) in our 8 second hydro. It sounded like shit, looked stupid, and didn't run the number. We put the Bassetts back on, and we're right back down to 7.90's-8.0's.

i've herd alot of that. you'd think the faster a blown or nitrous boat could get rid of exhuast , the better it'd run:confused: oh well, shorties it is then!
