j/k ;)
Regardless if you like them or not you have to admit that the technology in these little packages are pretty cool. I liken it to the evolution of the 4 stroke in the moto-x'ers and the super bitchen motors in the F1 cars.
I just like motors, not matter what they are. Cause peddling and rowing sucks.

Is that going in a watercraft or a boat?
Lake lice
The FX SHO is powered by an all new 1.8 liter, supercharged, super high output Yamaha Marine Engine. This 1812cc engine, which is purpose built for the marine environment, is the largest displacement engine ever installed in a personal watercraft. It is also the only engine in the high-performance, four-stroke category optimized to run on the least expensive Regular Unleaded fuel.

I agree! the orig 440 Jetski was 243 pounds, I was looking at a new 800 stand up, and they are 361 pounds now. The old 580cc SeaDoos were 365 pounds, and we thought those were heavy back in 1989. Im gonna built a little 550 Js and WAXX Andys new 800:D

Suppose it's all in how much money you have to spend. Saw a little 18' jet out at Pleasant earlier in the year with a Northstar in it. Had all the engine plastics and badging on it still. Was different to say the least. Figure it would be pretty turnkey though. ;)

Go figure, punched out 350 and stroked and still using the old "tried and true" pushrod motor. Imagine how much more GM could get out of that with an overhead cam??? I read in 2009 the Vettes are going to be pushed to 700 HP...

I have three 550SX's (1990 - Piston Port). One hangs pretty well with the 800. One is stock & I am willing to unload it (the stock one) if anyone wants it.

I have a 98 750 SX pro already that im redoing... fresh paint & motor. That will whoop up on Mr Andy01's 800;) also looking for a few mint cond 96 SeaDoo XP's, and maybe a few 96 WaveBlasters.

Since this is a non anger thread:( I'm wondering about the insurance on these high powered Lice, or any lice. We know that the insurance companies dont like cats with power and rape you for a policy but what about these things?? Gotta be just as dangerous or even more so, are they insurable?? Just wondering out loud. NSF

Find me a nice Waveblaster and I will run the waves with you. There is no better jumper out there.

I had one of those, my friend has it now. I really miss that ski, 413 lbs and 110hp stock, great power to weight ratio. Of course when I got done with it, it was pushing 140hp on 100 octane fuel and very turnkey. I also miss my 98 SupeJet and our 2002 Kawi STX-R. The STX-R felt like a bigger 96XP, I don't miss the 99 1200 Yamaha XLL three seater we had, even though it was fast, it was too heavy.

thats funny..... I had a MRD injected blaster also in 96. What a pain allways jacking with the pop off settings. There is a MFI kit on Ebay right now for $102.00....Id stick with the stock carbs. There are still a few springing up down here.

I agree the weight has sure been going up on these new beasts, but we bought our 07 Kawi Ultra 250x to be a fun cruiser. At over 900 lbs, it takes the Havasu chop better than anything else I've ever ridden. And with 250HP it has the power to still have fun with. Like incredible acceleration for it's size, and good for 65 MPH. Downsides (for me) are that it required 90+ octane, and if you're riding it a lot WOT, it does drink the gas. Overall a fun ski tho, and no regrets buying it. I am curious how the new Yamaha SHO will perform tho.

For the ski mentioned above, I think we're paying right around $400
