This was e-mailed to me with a bunch of other examples of how stupid people could be.
THE GRAND FINALE!!!
Last summer down on Lake Isabella, located in the
high desert an hour east of Bakersfield CA, some folks new to boating
were having a problem. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get
their brand new 22 foot boat going. It was very sluggish in almost every
maneuver no matter how much power they applied. After about an hour of
trying to make it go, they putted into a nearby marina, thinking someone
there may be able to tell them what was wrong. A thorough topside check
revealed everything in perfect working condition. The engine ran fine,
the out-drive went up and down, and the propeller was the correct size
and pitch. So one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check
underneath. He came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard.
(NOW REMEMBER...THIS IS TRUE.)
Under the boat, still strapped securely in place... was the trailer!

urban legend... but it probably did happen at some point in the past...

I've actually seen something similar to this, but it was done on purpose. Guy had to ferry his trailer from Halls Crossing to Bullfrog,, and the ferry was down for maintainence. It was a slow go,, but he did it..

I dont see that being possible...how in the hell is some jack ass not going to notice the trailer is not on his truck....but on his boat.... :220v:

Saw those guys on Myth Busters do it. It actually worked. The boat barely went but it did go. :rollside:

We did see a guy at the launch ramp who had a home made pontoon boat that was welded to the trailer so that it was all one peice. He tried go go cruising in it but boat cop gave him the boot because that entire pontoon thing was totally a POS.

One of the oldest myths on the web. First read this one (as described by someone who was "actually there") about 7 years ago. Can't remember what lake it was "actually at" though.
