ANYBODY HAVE A PIC OF A PUMP WITH A WEDGE ON IT. I WAS TRYING TO EXPLAIN IT TO Riverrat84, AND I WAS DOING A PISS POOR JOB.

I just had to go look at my boat to see if you stole my pump. I see you went up wedged up 8 degrees too.http://www.***boat.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=11506&stc=1

HA HA that exact paint on the pump was custom mixed by my father :crossx:
I think I have 7 degrees of wedge and was told I should try 2 more

use some all thread cut to length and tweak as necessary.

You want wedge? You got wedge! Shifty loves wedgies......

How is that ride plate installed at the front? Is it adjustable?

Its machined into the intake the thickness of the plate and I suppose you you could insert some shims for a shoe effect, just have not tried it yet.
The front half looks like a half circle if that helps any

Please don't use allthread. That's the cheapest fix and the weakest fix. I don't think allthread is even grade three. Use better bolts and cut to max thread depth. I'd use stainless. Budlight

I use stainless steel all thread;)

I used stainless studs threaded into the bowl. Then on the nozzle piece I used sperical tooling washers to account for the angle. They'll take up to about 10° non-parallel and still allow straight pull on the studs. Looks a bit ugly I think. On quick look it appears like I stacked up a buch of washers. But it seems like the right thing to do to avoid bending studs and/or F-ing up bowl threads.

So this is what the "OLD guy's" are using to get it up? :D :D

Say what? I'm an old guy. Maybe this wedge 'cause it needs to stay down... :)

My thought. The wedge a bandaid, I'm sorry...tuning aid to overcome a less-than-perfect intake/pump orientation relative to the hull that needs fixing for best performance. In other words, a wedge can offset losses incurred by bending flow with gains in performance from a better thrust angle. In a perfect world, no wedge is better. In the real world?

Exactly. a wedge will offset minimal losses incurred from bending flow with significang gains in performance from reduction in drag by lowering the thrust centerline. i say significant, when you consider how much the wedge costs. In a perfect world, no wedge is better (thrust centerline would be perfect, drag would be absolutely minimum). In the real world (ya gotta work with it)
or, you don't care about performance, and you just stack 'em up to get giant roosters at a top speed of 40
hey, is that your original pd design, or did you re-work it? that is still very very cool. were you, or did you ever pc it?

It's the original...

I don't seem to have time to rework anything these days. But the original design (Dec 03) works very well...at just a bit over 65 mph? :) Besides getting junk out of the water, I like the symmetry of divertor force applied along the thrust axis.
Maybe when I retire I'll have time to refine and powder coat it. Ya right.

yah, right, 65... i like that a lot, and want to do something like it when i get to lhc. get a lot of stuff out of the water, and test b/a.
if i had it this morning, it woulda been p/c'd by monday  real good place over in slo that does lots for me, and he just happened to be doing some stuff in black for me this afternoon.
