I don't think its the cowlings that wont work. The new 2.5's and 300x's have the bigger alternator with the alien style cowlings. If you make it work with the bigger alternator let me know I have the same 2.5 drag motors and would love to change them out.

Cole- I just got done talkling to Eric Simon at simonmotorsports.com in San diego he told me that he is currently working on a bracket to put the 60 amp alternators on the 2.5 drag motors, but you have to have the alein style cowlings. The bracket should be finish in a month or so. You will run a little slower. What size boat are you running the drag motors on??

Kab that is too cool..thanks for checking on that for me!!! the motors are going on a 26 daytona and they are the alien cowlings...i wonder how much slower it would run??? it really wouldn't matter if i lost a couple mphs if i dont have to worry about charging these things every night!!!

Not real sure about the speed. Maybe a 1-2 mph's not bad. I'm definelty going to put the 60 amp's on my boat when Eric get the bracket done. I charge my batteries every night right now, would be nice not to have to worry about charging them all the time.

we'll after talking to Eric(your not going to believe this)he was the guy who has been maintaining these motors....and with a little clarification i found out there 2.5 280 hp w/ A-48 drag boxes with 34cc heads. they have offshore shorties which i am going to see if they will work on my 26 daytona(he sayes they probably wont work)too short. now.... he wants to do a trade..my offshore shorties for offshore 20" and install them for me!! he said he would also bore the snouts from the stock of 33/8 to 33/4.all of this straight across trade...is this a fair trade?????? Cole

Sounds like a fair trade to me if the motors are the same year or newer? Kab those props are not mine but I can get them for 1500 for the pair. If you want them I will need to know soon or they will be gone! Still have those 28cleavers and 26ets.

Are the props new on the box?? Are they in good condition? Sounds like a pretty good deal.

Cole- You are right, you can not use the short shaft with a 25 or 26 daytona. I would take the trade. Sounds like a good deal.

Kab no problem I understand, I just know these are the props you have been looking for. To bad they are not mine I could hold them till the BBSP. Cole I have 30three blade lab cleavers, 28 four blade merc cleavers, and 26ETs. These props were all for my 2.5s now I have 300Pro Maxs, and needed more pitch.

Cole I had a DCB rigged 21 Daytona with twin 2.5 with the same motor mods yours have. I loved that boat but I just had my first kid a few weeks ago and I knew it would be to small for a new born to be in. The boat ran 110 with 30s at 8000, but the ETs where the shit 101at 8200. My new ride is a DCB rigged 1997 25 Daytona with twin 2000 300 pro maxs(not Xs). The pro maxs are no where near as snappy as the 2.5s, but the driveablity and oil injection are great. You realy only have one prop to choose from on the Pro maxs because of the lower rpm range. I run 32four merc lab cleavers at 6250rpm doing 106mph. I would think your new ride should excellerate much better than mine because you can spin a lower pitch prop at a higher RPM! The ETs I have are used, but in good shape(one was repaired by merc hi po)$875. The three blade merc lab cleavers are also used in good shape $1000. 28 four blade cleavers are new used once by me for less than an hour $1200. All these prices are for the pair and I'm open to all offers. I will be at the BBSP in april if you want to try any of these prop. Kab that guy still has your props and dropped his price to $1400? Cole where are the pics of your new 26?
