I buddy is thinking about buying a 84 18' boat (I dont know what kind) but it has a Mercury 120 or 125hp engine. We were talking and he mentioned he would like a little more power than that...but he doesnt want to get too crazy. I mentioned maybe getting a 200hp mercury, how hard would that be to swap out?
I am a v-drive guy, so I dont know anything about it.

Not too hard but it could be expensive.

Strap a big block on the back of that baby & hang on... Cus it will be on the bottom of the lake it no time.
Maybe you would get $1000 to $1500 for the 125 and a decent merc 200 would run around $3000 and up depending on year. Steering might need to be upgraded too.
