Special thanks to Plaster Dave for the recommendation. Vic at Bear did a real fine job on my 11 year old worked over Extreme. So good that I told him not to put the Extreme stickers I had on, rather, I'd fly his colors!
Nice Job Vic!

New Brake Actuator housing, Look Ma! No Bondo!!!
http://www.***boat.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=38243&stc=1&d=1188515108
Added a Spare Tire Carrier (but the spare is too ugly to put on the trailer now)

Those of you who know the Castaic threads have seen the shot of me limping home on a 2x4...

If any of you are in need of a trailer makeover, get it over to BEAR. He ain't cheap, but the work is A+. This was a full restoration. Stripped, painted, re-wired, new brakes, suspension, bunks, etc. All that was left from Extreme is the steel...

Looks good. Am assuming they have the means of removing and storing a boat once it is off the trailer. How long did the work actually take? Thinking about getting mine redone in the off season.
Dave, that avatar looks real familiar. :D

He's got a lift for popping the boats off the trailer. The boat sat on dollies under a tarp for the whole project which took just about 4 weeks.
First 2 weeks was teardown, sanding, grinding and then a preinspection before paint. (Yeah, he called and said he won't paint it until I approved it raw!)
a few days at paint and another week back at the shop for final assembly, wires, bunks, etc.
Dropped it off on 8/1, picked it up today. Just in time for Labor day. What are the plans this weekend???

Plan to take my trailer to BEAR once sell my YFZ450. Going to have them repaint, new bunks, add a spare tire carrier and change out the lights.
Wonder what that will cost.

Same project, except add 4 new suspension and a brake actuator housing.....this cost me $2250, and I dropped Dave's name! lol
Vic's got a pretty well written price schedule, and the "refurb" for a 19 to 25 foot trailer was right at $1999.99 I think. Pay cash and drop some names, it should save you a few $$$:D I told him he's got a HB rep to keep up now.

This is the e-mail received from Vic. He did say he would cut 15% off this price. Still seems rather high considering what you paid.
Typically refurbs run $2500.00 for up to 21 footers. What you get for that is:
remove and store boat
strip trailer down
sand down trailer and paint ( powder coat optional )
reassemble trailer with new wiring, new LED lights, new bearings new seals and new bunks
Turn around time is about 3 weeks
Call us if you have any questions

Mike Livingston is the same price but DOESNT include new lights.

Richey,
Drag the trailer over and meet him in person. He does do lots of other work besides refurbing boat trailers, but I have to think Fall is the "off season" and he'd be willing to work a deal.
Good luck.

I assume he gave you a good price, since you decided to leave it?

RitcheyRch

Basically $2500 minus 15%.
Is still cheaper than Livingston and get LED lights where Livingston reuses the existing lights.

Picked up my trailer on Friday from BEAR TrailerSport. Ended up taking to BEAR since he was cheaper than Livingston. He also replaces the trailer lights with LED's where Livingston reuses your old lights unless you pay more. Overall, am very happy with the end result.
I originally wanted to paint the trailer white but Vic talked me into black. The trailer was originally painted red.

Glad to see you're pleased with the results, Vic is a class-act in my book, and I would be comfortable sending anybody I know to him.
...and it looks like Black was a good call there! Trailer looks sharp Rich!
