Make it a late lunch, unless you have a jet. River doesn't come up 'till 11 or so. Where're launching at?

Get gas at Needles. It was only $4.50 last week while they were charging $5.25 to $5.75 a gallon at Moabi and Topoc.
I would think that the trip can be made on one tank of gas.

Thinking of launching just north of the casinos in Laughlin. Maybe start heading down around noon or so to get there by 1:30:idea:

Going south -
* Avi
* Needles Marina (be careful entering their marina if the water is low. The entrance can be pretty shallow)
* Park Moabi
* Golden Shores Marina
The water flows drop off quite a bit starting in August. Here is a phone number for Davis Dam water flow releases (928) 754-3666.
The daily releases are only in the 12,500 cfs (cubic feet per second). They measure releases in units operating. There are up to 5 at Davis and each unit represents about 4500 cfs. Typically they increase the number of units or water releases in the early afternoon. These increased waterflows don't make it downstream until mid afternoon.

There is actually a ramp just north of the casinos on the river ( south of the dam) that you can launch at, check it out on google earth west side of the river just above the casinos.

I think he is talking about the ramp at the park on the other side of the parking lot at the Riverside.

I personally would never launch from the launch at the Riverside again. Do yourself a favor and go over the bridge and go left to Camp Davis(?) or go right and go the Bullhead city launch. Both are very close.

I would agree. I launched there about 5 years ago with a jetboat and it is not fun nor easy. The current is too strong and then trying to pick some body up at the dock is tough.
I second Bullhead City Launch. It is fast and easy because you launch into the NO WAKE ZONE.

For a real treat!---Laughlin Bay Marina! :D ---Not sure about the rest of the Menu, But Hands Down!!, the best Cobb and Taco Salads we've ever had! :D
Also where we topped the fuel tank--they trailer you up to the pump and back for $15 bucks! :)

I made the trip last week from Havasu to AVI topped off 16 gallons at Needles Marina Park and it cost me $220.00. ($13.75 per gallon) of course that counts the $140.00 I put on Red at AVI thinking I could pay for the ride. it came up black :mad: oh well fun ride.:)

I agree, dont buy gas on the water at the AVI. Last year I went from the nautical inn to laughlin, refueled at the avi on the way back with 91 octane, had blown both head gaskets by the sand bar.:mad: definatly not 91 octane

That's a fun little trip. We like to go to from Laughlin to the Sandbar. I would be pretty nervous just south of the Avi with an outdrive, it gets real shallow there.. Like others have said, I would wait for the water level to get up before taking off.. A good idea is to have a PWC go first to look for sandbars. I just gas at the Topock Marina. With a Jet those trips can get pretty expensive at $4 a gallon..

if your full when you launch you should make it, I launched at Rotary park in Bullhead and went to Havasu and back and still had some fuel when I got back...and I have one of those thirsty jet boats:eek: :D
