After this weekend just curious how many people actually carry a gun onboard their boat?
I don't expect any Horshack "Ooh, ooh, ooh, I do" answers so...
You can say someone you know does or your mother-in-law does or whoever or however you want to put it, but atleast the answer will count as number.
To my surprise there was more than one on our beach this holiday weekend.

The day I need to pack heat when I go to the lake, is the day I give up boating.
So that would be a no from me.

I think the idea in "concealed" carry is to NOT let others know what you have.
just a thought.

I think Firearms are Prohibited at Mead since its a national park/recreation area. If i remember correctly i believe there are signs on your way in that say something about No Firearms, or maybe Loaded weapons.

Wait, wait, wait...
My mistake, sorry...
I just got off the phone with my wife talking about this thread and I guess I was miss-informed about the guns.
There were 3 people (that we knew) on the beach that had guns, not 2 like I originally thought.
Stupid me...

I have in the past, but not anymore. I do carry a 12ga flare gun that would probably do the trick if absolutely necessary though. ;) :D It is also US Coast Guard Approved and recommended. :D

Concealed weapon is the problem, as long as its in plain view & properly locked, no problems so why hide it??
The mere site of it should deter your issues

Riodog,
I"d be surprised if there were any around here that don't know what I do, then again, lot of newbies over the last two years.
I was just pointing out the fact those that do carry legally probably don't make it very apparent, therefore, the idiots that are carrying openly are probably not supposed to be packing anyways.

Unfortunately times have changed, along with the mind set of today's younger generation (holy shit I sound like my dad!!).
Gone are the days rollin in the street, and the best man goes to the hospital for the least amount of stitches.
I insist on at least being on a level playing field, what ever it takes!!!:jawdrop:

Wait, I thought Frankie said Relax...
This post wasn't to have people fess up, like they really would.
This post was to make people aware that times have changed and there is alot more going on behind the scenes if you want to call it that.
Be aware of your surroundings and realize that a nice day on the river can turn bad in a matter of minutes.
There are some people who have power and because of it they might abuse it sometimes in a wrong way.
I will just say this, one of the persons that was packing on the beach that day has plenty of credentials to back up any thing that might have happened on that given day, good or bad.
But after a few beers he was and is just like anyone else and yes I feel he let his machismo get the best of him.
After all was said and done on that particular day on the beach, I was the one who stepped in and saved the day, and I don't have a problem saying it.
The others that were there that day have thanked me over and over again and he even thanked me at the end of the day.
Not to toot my own horn but it is a day that I will feel good about (without the bad parts of course) for the rest of my life.
Not that I saved anyones lives (or ok maybe I did) but I feel I made and earned something that this world is lacking these days and that is respect.
Respect from him, his buddies, his family, my family, and others that might remember for me doing the right thing.
Now I will say I'm sorry for patting myself on the back...

So basically, if I read this right,
You were at a place where a guy who has the authority to carry a gun, attempted to use it under the influence and it was not justified (?)
Shame on him, should not be in the line of work that allows him to carry legally.
As for those who carry legally and responsibly, I'd say, at certain locations, you are surrounded by people who fit that category. There were over 50 of us at one location this summer. The difference? No one was out of line, no incidents and we were all doing what we do always, act responsibly.
Smells of a "side swipe bash" on a certain profession, maybe I read this wrong.
Good job either way.

Arizona adopts the castle doctrine “Stand your ground”
After the 911 flight over Pennsylvania where the passengers jumped the terrorists I think we the USA residents had had enough.
Arizonians can now stand up to asshole perps under the influence drugs/alcohol, car thieves, rapists, gang members and be within the law. Many states require you to retreat just to become another static when SHTF.
I wish the world was not full of fired-up, lawless losers going on their 3rd strike, I wish the illegal criminals weren’t caring illegal guns, but they are. I wish for my children, and wife that life was more innocent, but the truth be told things have changed dramatically.
If you don’t invest just a small amount of time understanding the use of force laws, and or, have a factual drinking or use of drug habit, or hot quick temper then pass on gun ownership.
But if you are the type that stores water, first aid, food etc in case of an earthquake, dam flood etc, the have-nots may stop by your place like a K/marts blue light special on free Viagra….
One example: you’re car alarm goes off, you go to investigate and low and behold some fired-up asswipe pulls a knife, screw driver, etc. under the new law you can cap his pathetic ass and guess what under castle doc the family members can't sue you in civil court, cleared in criminal and civil…. We the lawful citizens had had enough, the police as good as they are can’t be there to help you, just like a major crisis your on your own!!!!! period
Proud to see Arizona join the “Stand your ground” law its working
