Had 57 boats turn out at Mar-Don resort up here in the great N/W. It was quite a spectacal to say the very least, even had aerial shots taken for us. There's quite a few up already, with much more to come in the next day or two.

This was done in Waco on Labor Day weekend.....
They're from a Pro-Mod (7.00 seconds at 170 mph) which is 3 seconds and 65 mph faster than my mud-sucker, but it's all good....
Does it count....?

Glad you guys likes it. I had Rage against the Machine edited into the video at first and the opening was bad ass with it but it drowned out the motors too much so it didnt make the cut. Hopefully by next season I will have a Mac and a better vid. camera so we can have some better quality vids. Hard part is getting someone to video the stuff while we are out playing:)
Boat ran good, I was happy with it.. Now the fun part. Maintenence and cleaning.:)

Boogey, its a new 19 placecraft built by peterson with all the old R intake/top fuel hardware. Keith black/dart heads/psi on alky. Radared over 130 with no setup work on a short pass, its scary to think about what its capable of on a full pass. Its just his river toy, will never see a race track.

I dont even think they'd allow it on the track right? what speed do you have to be @ when a capsule is req'd?

I think if he ran over 145 with NJBA they would require a capsule... IHBA's rule is 7.70 and below need a capsule.

I know I didn't smoke HB, he was clearly out in front because I was looking at his transom. I'm pretty sure I had RR beat though.

Nice seeing all you guys down at LL last weekend. I have 5 races on video. The first was between Cyclone and myself. Mike was gonna give me 4 lengths and the go. I got three and we left even(according to the volume of the engines). He won by a boat length to a boat and a half. Good job.
Next race was me and HBJ. He DID take his bottle out, BUT, I didn't have him purge the lines. He wanted to run from the squat, so we did. I gave him the go. He left and I blew the tail and waited after 100 feet or so.
Next was the rerun of the first(HBJ and me) race. Same deal. I gave him the go plus a smidgen. He got out on me by 3 boats and ended up ahead by maybe a half. It's very close on tape, but I give him the nod. While we were down river, I told HBJ "now it's my turn to get the leave". He agreed.
Next was the Blown Gas Flat and me. I let him leave(roll) and buried it. I ended up ahead by 5-6 boats when I lifted(short of the wire).
I came back to the start line. Mud Pumper and I just kind of floated there waiting for HBJ(who was in the lagoon). It WAS getting dark.
Last race. HBJ came out and down river. He, I and Mudpumper staged pretty even. I don't know who left. I didn't see them to the right of me until I crossed under the wire and lifted,.... then they both flew by. I guess if we were doing a kilo race, they won. But I thought it was 1/4 mile. Most of the 200 people or so jumping up and down on the shore saw who won also, and so did the video camera's at the wire.
All in all, it was cool. I was back there(LL) this Thursday thru Sunday. Nobody would come out to play so I just seated the rings a little on Friday and Saturday night.
Captain Bill wants me to go to Ming in October. I just might, to get my T- shirt and try out my new Helmet. Till then, see you guys around LL. RR

Well, Since the cat is out of the bag. The bottle is in my cooler and I ran the lines through the block by boaring a hole down the center of my cam. I drilled direct injection ports on the under side of my manifold in the oil galley. Its a pretty trick set up. And I hid the solenoids in the float bowls of my carburetors. It's a bad ass setup. :D Nothing big, just a 150 shot.

Alright. I plumbed the second stage by boaring a hole in the crank and up the rods and mounted jets on the bottom of the pistons (Custom Jobs made by Ross) anyway, the nozzles are recessed in a custom 30cc dish in the top of the piston for the most high tech direct injection ever. It's really off the hook. :D

That's the problem Randy. The finish line(that big wire with the orange balls on it) is 150'-200' BEFORE the entrance to the cove. Think about it. I don't need to post the video. Everybody there(at the finish line ) saw who won(me). Those in the lagoon(150'+ PAST the finish line) saw you or Mudpumper win. Mudpumper wasn't that close, so it's academic. I think you have video from the LAGOON, not the finish line. If you want, come up in October. I'm sure that if you're OFF the bottle we'll run in the same bracket. If not, I'm at LL every 2-3 weeks. I have a Sportsman race coming up at Fontana soon, and my slicks are flat from sitting on the trailer. Summer is coming to an end, so try to make Ming in October if you can. Bring Mike(Mudpumper) with you. That should get you and he wrenching on your boats and changing parts for the next 6 weeks. I guess that would explain it then. Pretty sure me and Randy were racing to the entrance to the lagoon. Didn't know the wire was the finish. I wish somebody would just post the Video so we can see what happened. Apparently the only people that know for sure are the 200 people on the beach and you. And FYI Mike, when a 300+ pound guy slides on & off the deck of his boat, and sits on it while he's drinking beer, it's not light. Stop making excuses before your rematch. Go tinker with your engine. RR, I like you. You make me laugh. :D I have never needed to make an excuse for anything in my life. Never said your boat was light, just lighter than mine. I was just pointing out the fact that you should have me covered no problem since you are running a lighter, faster hull with more HP. My boat runs hard for what it is, which is a HEAVY ass Hallett V-Bottom with 650HP. I'm very proud of my boat and how it runs, and don't need to make excuses for shit. If I lost, then I lost, big deal.
Anyway, the only tinkering I will be doing is bolting up a new starter and changing the oil. Maybe if I engage my new starter next time we run it will give me the extra boost I need to beat you. :)

Mike. I don't know if it's lighter than yours or not, but I do know it's definately not Light(as in Potato Chip).
I don't normally even race other Ford's so I was kind of surprised you wanted to run. Anyway, it doesn't matter to me either. Just like Eddie Hill, I've known for awhile there is no money to be made drag racing boats.
You should be proud. Your boat is very nice and runs hard. Your setup is probably superior to mine as I don't have a group that I hang with regularly that are in the know, and work in the industry. I learn(or remember) as I go, weekend by weekend.
I hadn't been in a boat AT ALL for over 20 years until I had this one layed up in 2005, but before that I raced at Ski Land, Blue Water and Puddingstone(NJBA and NDBA), and have owned 2 other CP Boats(both Ford powered).
The engine and setup in this boat is for 'training purposes'. Next summer will be different. Hope that sheds some light. I'll see all you guys at Ming in October. It doesn't matter if I do well or get blown away. At least I'll get a nice, close picture for my wall to hang next to the others in the den. RR

Hi Chris. I saw you driving around over last week, but was up at camp when you guys all came by headed south.
Actually, I called Bill and told him I'd be racing the boat in October before we left for Labor Day just to find out what I needed besides my vest.

What's not to follow, Randy. That was 20 years ago(or more). It takes time for me to get used to going 100 in a boat again. That is what the engine was built for, time to get used to going fast.
I don't have to tell you about the engine, but I will just to disspel any hard feelings.
It is a 514 Ford. Stock Iron Block, 12-1, 2 950 Carbs, Roller Cam and Aluminum Heads with the STOCK Ford Intake port(vs. like an 18 degree or 12 degree BBC port). These Heads flow 400 cfm. The engine makes 836 hp @6500 rpm. That's 1.63 hp/ci. Not bad for a box of spare parts.
The next one will make a lot more, be N/A, and the parts list will be secret.
By the way, the hull weighs 540 pounds EMPTY. I had it weighed. No hard feelings Randy. Hope the info sheds some light and helps you out in some way. RR

RR
I think that would be valve angle:confused:
But I guess you are running a CJ/Motorsport head with oval ports? Or
a Bluethunder?
1.63 hp/ci. is kick ass and at 6,500 that's even better. Nice test mule
engine.;)
Hopefully, My bro and I will run into you one day. And thanks for the info.

20 years is a long time. Glad you are back in the sport.
I like how you say you don't have to tell me about your motor and you certainly do not, but when it comes to running you on the river there are all sorts of rules, regulations, policy's, etc. that must be followed. I am surprised your son didn't make me run through a tech check in the cove. Thanks for telling me though and it does shed some light for me. It tells me I made the right decision to go with a chevy motor. :D
As for me making the same power as you - Well, I am not.
496ci iron GM block, iron GM 990 heads that flow less then yours for sure. Dual 750 Holleys and roller cam. Oh, and DNE valve covers:D

Dennis, since we are disspelling hard feelings, here is what I'm running:;)
It is a 501 Ford. Iron Block .040 over, 10.5-1, 2 750 Carbs, Roller Cam and Edlebrock Performer Aluminum Heads. Didn't Flow the heads but they are Edlebrocks, the cheepest AL heads you can buy. The engine makes 649 hp @ 6100. That's 1.29 hp/ci. Not bad for a 30 yr old skiboat.:D

Randy. Both your's and Mike's boats look good and run exceptionally well. You guys will have no trouble beating most guys out on the river(as I'm sure you both know).
That is what mine was built for. Just to play on the river with old guys like myself. It's very heavy for an 18' boat, so it won't ever be quick, but I may bequeath it to the 'tech inspector' and buy a lighter version. I'll be up there in October to satisfy my curiosity and see how the sport has changed(especially the starting lights). It should be interesting on Saturday, at least. Sunday, I don't know about. Depends on how quickly I get used to the lights with no electronics or 2 step installed.
Anyway, I'll be watching you guys if I go out quickly.
And I'm just kidding. I'll change the plugs again, AND set the Valves for the race. Maybe even change the oil, lol. C u guys up there. RR

This engine has BT 'B' Heads on it. Stock Ford SCJ port with a BBC Exhaust. They are hand ported and blended. I'll be at Lost Lake for one more round of testing before the race in October. Don't exactly know when, but will be working on the setup more. Speed seems to be OK for the power/weight ratio I have. Lost Lake is about 12 miles N of Aha Quin(where you were). I'm sure we'll see each other sooner or later, as there aren't that many Ford equipped guys out there. I'll look forward to it. No problem on the info. RR

I like how you have raced before, had other CP's.
Randy. If you go to www.dscmotorsport.com and look at the home page you'll see one of the other CP's. Blue and White(just like ours). That is circa 1985 when they were rare. People looked at it like it was a flying saucer back then. It had a stroked MR 427 Ford(454 c.i.d) in it with a JG Scotten pump etc. Ran 89-90(back then that was very fast) and was the King of McIntyre Park on many big weekends for years. The picture was taken at Ski Land in Perris(NJBA race). Look at the scoop. The more things change, the more they stay the same, lol. RR

At Aha we met a guy and his son that put a 428 FE in thier jet boat " Just because". It runs a Nos system on it. I think 200 hp it was the second week out with the Nos kit.
I couldn't believe it, an FE with out any oil leaks ;) .

Give it a chance. The leaks will come around with time. They're almost like a Harley. In order to be right they drip a puddle now and then, lol. RR

I think you might be right. The dad told me " The 428 is running great. No blow-by or anything." I said " Well let me know about that after you go thru 2 bottles of nitrous":D
