Chattanooga, TN Electric Power Board. Dagum thing is I live at 1,700 feet so our temp never got above 96 or 98. I do have 5,000 sf to cool though. 900 of that is basement where I keep the stat at 72. That unit rarely runs.

Every month my bill would be about $24.00. That's because the AC unit was broken so why run it. I think the highest bill last year was $32.00.
I fixed the AC over the winter. Thank goodness. Last couple bills were about $160.00 though  Got to keep the AC running now that we have a baby in the house. Otherwise, I'd have a $24 bill still. :D
Keep the thermo around 78 or so. 3,000 square feet, one story.

Not for long, your utility is in front of the ACC right now asking for a 25 - 30% rate increase...
The highest I saw this summer was $170... house is at 82 during the day and 75-77 at night.

River O, you may have let the cat out of the bag. A lot of HB'ers would love to take their million $ equity and come to TN and buy your 5,000 sq ft house on the river, your low taxes and outstanding utility bills. We did it to OR and WA and we can do it to you too. If you neighbors found out what you've said they may string you up...

Holy crap! That is nothing. I can't wait to go. :( The hottest months I usually get about 140 bucks but that is because I'm at work during the day and my wife will open the doors and turn on fans and when you come home then 80 degrees is actually nice. We have been home since her surgery and 80 degrees is freaking hot so we bring it down to like 78 for periods of time and run it at 76 at night. I shit bricks when I just got my 260 bill for electricity. I couldn't imagine running 72 all the time and having a pool to boot. This state sucks a$$ more and more everyday.

He knows that nobody will go there because it's Africa hot and Florida humid. The ticks are bigger than a great dane and a really fine looking woman has three teeth instead of two. Everybody keep away.

Once you go over the firs tier level the cost go way up. The idea behind it is that if you want more power than base set by area you are going to pay way more per kilo watt hour. Rates are set at the State level by CPUC. I am not sure in Arizona but I bet it is the same way.

SCE base line is a joke. Palm Springs has the same base line as the rest of So Cal. I go over base line just thinking about turning on the AC. I have two 14 seer units and still run $700 a month durig the summer.

67 in here right now.
We have a full shade patio cover, window tint, blah blah. It's the AC and both pool pumps that push us way over the tier.
Gonna have to cut down on the kids using the waterfall. :D

Unisource is trying to get the same scheme here in Southern AZ (TEP). Like I said to Mike, they are infront of the ACC right now. Don't know about Arizona Public Service or Salt River Project.
The proposed baseline is so low, you're going to bust it just by running a couple lights, the fridge, and TV for the month. It's almost punitive...
Right now we don't have a tiered rate, though we do pay more in the summer per kWh than in the winter.

Tint the windows in your home! Your airconditioners won't be running all day long to keep up with the heat. You will save money and stop all fading in your home. Less ware and tear on your A/C unit, if it's not ruuning all the time you won't replace it as often.
