MP,
Here's a pic of the early style Oberg on our boat. Note the the "black" anodized 90* that almost immediately turned gold in the sun. Oh yeah, ignore the regulator/ball valve buffonery on the pump -- they have a mount along the stringer now.

I don't have any pics of our System 1 remote set up, but the lines come out of the engine to the remote filter mounted to the front of the engine then to the oil cooler and then back to the engine. A System 1 filter is a better system than the Obergs. I think they have nearly three times the surface area to filter the oil. They are also more user friendly.

Mudpumper,
Awesome thread. I want to put this system on mine
http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/KeywordSearchCmd?storeId=10001&catalogId=10002&langId=-1&N=0&Ntt=system+1&Ntk=all&Nty=1&D=system+1&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchall&Dx=mode%2Bmatchall&searchTerm=system+1
but not sure where to put it. I would like to see pics of others set up as well to give me an idea of where to mount remotely if possible.

The dual filter head is mounted to an aluminum plate, which in turn is mounted to the front of the driver's side cylinder head (behind the ignition coil):

The filters are in parallel.

Wooley, Get one of the rex heads and a baldwin filter. I would stay away from the serviceable screen type screw on oil filters.

Have you had bad luck with one or heard bad things about them? I have had good luck with mine for years. Is there something I should know?

There is a detailed article by a filtration specialist on oil filters floating around the net, there is alot of intersting stuff about the screw on screen filters and regular screw ons, Ill look for it. The screen filter didnt hold a candle to a paper filter.
I have this one saved in my links thats another good filter study. check it out.

The Hi-performance paper filters will screen the oil to a finer micron size that is for sure. The screen filters as you know are great for inspection and then you can always change then out.
