I am currently running a V-8 500 cube blower motor with a Merc Thunderbolt 4 ignition system and a 14 degree V-6 module. I have three of these modules and only one of them gives any advance at all. The one that does work gives 8 degrees advance only and it does so intermitantly. My understanding is that a 14 degree V-6 module should give 10 degrees on a V-8. My 24 degree V-8 module gives about 22 degrees advance so the system is working with that module.... My question is this. When these modules go out, do they give intermittant or less advance than they should? Does anyone hav a WORKING V-6 14 degree module to part with? Thanks.

Personally, time to move up to a better ignition system, but, that'll cost ya $500.
MSD Marine Ready-2-run, plus wires.

Well, while the site was down for three days, I found out the following on OFFSHOREONLY.COM The V-6 14 degree advance modules give you ten degrees advance in a V-8. The advance comes in starting at 650-700 RPM and is all in @ 2100. Perfect for my blown application. I was checking it at 1200 where I idle and it was allmost all in and seeing next to no advance. What I did see when I dropped the idle to 650 was just what they said it would do. All is good.. As far as upgrading my ignition, I have never had a problem from my 330 HP with a V-8, 24 degree advance module to my now over 900 HP blown motor with the 14 degree advance module. I run the absolutely coldest plugs I can in this boat and it idles all the time with kids wakebording and me skiing and NEVER fouls the plugs. The Thunderbolt 4 ignition is tops in my book!;)
