any bargain deals on a pre alpha mercruiser outdrives around. A friends made really bad(expensive) crunchy noises and is junk. :mad: Its for an inline 6 boat and after getting it in his DIVORCE, funds are kinda light. He's in BHC area and we can travel alittle to pickup if price is right. Just trying to help a fellow boater get back off the shore. Thanks

I posted a thread a while back, but can't remember the title, might have been cheap outdrives, but go to bargainboats.com They're in Tacoma Wa, but should be able to ship, and the prices are right.

When you say crunching noise,do you mean in the upper unit?Like the gears are stripped?
I have 2 upper units,One is a pre alpha with a straight 6 in front of it.
The other is an alpha 1(1986 1.50gears)Both have good gears and are still in 1 peice.(upper units only)
I removed them from both boats becouse the inline6 boat went to the junk yard,the v-8 boat was turned into an outboard.
If you need the upper unit,I will send it to you.Let me know.
Free!I can use more space in the basement.

This was a straight 6 and the gears ate everything, ruined the cases. Where are you located? Upper and lower were ruined. Half way there is closer than what it is now. Can you check shipping to 86440 and let me know. Thank you for the offer.
