Hey drewvir , I have a 2.6 GT 85 with flex flywheel, extra reeds & no limit p packs.
It spins a 30 chopper at 7k. Any idea what kind of hp it has

Hey Drewver!
The mod 2.6 GT was on my homemade 16' plywood
Grandprix tunnel. Not sure of weight,I think
about 500 lbs.
Made a 85 omc speedo hit the pin

hey woody!
my best guess is 240+ at the prop.
remember they were rated at 220 @ the prop

Hey drewvir!
If 235 GT is 220 @ prop, what would 79 235 be @ prop.
The larger bore & squared ports should have made some extra hp no?

Hey james!
Sorry for budding in on your thread.
drewvir was right, wiseco has pistons for your 235 but you will have to cut the skirt if you have gt. The wiseco are much better than oem. The stock pistons had the top ring to high, this in my mind caused the top of piston to explode making a mess of head and cyl.The wiseco piston has more than twice as much mat. above top ring.
Also check exhaust filler block bolts, they have a bad rep. for backing out and falling into cyl also. Good luck with the rebuild.
