What year did oil injection start

Oh man, I just read this and I've already forgot. :confused:
All I remember is that it was early 80s for OMC. If I can find the article I read it in I'll get the answer. That is, if nobody else has answered it by tomorrow.

1984 for omc and 87 for yamaha not sure about merc

Some one told me Suzuki had oil injection in the early 80's? Didn't think that was right.

85-86 on MERCS.
Not 100% but would bet I'm close!!!!

Merc had their "auto blend" oil mixing system in 1978. It was a oil tank with pump that would mix a pre determined amount of oil in the fuel as it passed through. (It SUCKED!!!) Merc's current (No digital) oil injection was available in late 1983 on some engines, and was standard on all non performance v-6's by 1986. Don't know about the other manufacturers.

Merc was 1984 on V6s (Only year of the black and brown cowl). OMC started 84-85 with the VRO system.
