Thinking about adding an M3SC Procharger. Just for recreational fun. What are the pros and cons here? The HP500 has 50 hours with an XR outdrive and dual Imco external steering.
Also, I am running a 26p 4blade prop. Any suggestions for better performance?

The pros are you're going to add 15+mph to your sled. The cons are you're going to break some drives.

I have heard that the pro chargeres generate alot of heat and are more for race use I would look into a whipple set-up personally...

I have a friend who put the same charger on a 26 daytona 500 efi, it lasted 5 hrs. and he blew a head gasket then he went back to stock. My opinion I think that motor is great if you leave it alone . If you can do a motor that is designed for a blower.

One of the cons is that you will probably make your boat uninsurable. Maybe we could start a club:D
I also know someone that installed a whipple on a HP 500 and blew a head gasket after a few hours.

The 500hp/efi motors are a great package and will make good power but when adding a blower you really need to do two things to that motor first. One is upgrade the head gaskets to a better set such as the cometics, or preferably the Felpro version metal shim gasket. Secondly you need to change the cyl. head bolts to some ARP fasteners. These two things will greatly reduce the chances of a head gasket failure. Allot of people dont do this simple upgrade.
The Whipple would be my top choice by far and has been for a long time.

I believe that the procharger has the coolest temps between the two. Also dont have to cut the hatch with the procharger. Whipple looks cooler. I have procharged 500efi's and they dyno'd at 791hp and 816tq at 7lbs boost on 87 octane. Arizona speed did the dyno stuff.

Come to think of it, I will sell you a complete 500efi procharged with all accessories including headers and programmable computers with the software for 15k! These already have cometic head gaskets.

some of these posts crack me up.....
RTECH
WHIPPLE
PROCHARGHER
ALL OF THESE COMPANYS HAVE DONE ALOT OF R&D TO MAKE A BOLT ON KIT FOR THE 500 EFI...THATS RELIABLE.
SURE STOCK MOTORS ARE THE MOST RELIABLE.
IF YOU BOLT ON ANY OF THESE KITS EXACTLY LIKE THEY SAY, CHANCES ARE YOU WILL BE OK.
ANY ONE OF THESE KITS WILL PUT A BIG GRIN ON YOUR FACE WHEN YOU PUSH THE STICKS......IT IS NIGHT AND DAY OVER STOCK...
I LIKE THE WHIPPLE

Pro-Chargers are actually quite efficient and do not generate a lot of heat. Add in the AW504 intercooler that the M3 and M4 setups usually come with and you get very cool intake temps for the amount of boost produced. I did some data logging one time with my setup and found intake temp at roughly 130 deg F at ~8 psi boost. I didn't think that was too bad for an early summer day, 100+ deg air temp, at least 80+ deg water temp.

They sure do!!! I picked up Drews A.o. last year with the 500 and the vortech. It is a bitchen set up. Makes 700+h.p. @ 3.5lbs boost. I have 240 hours on it now and have experienced only a drive loss. Absolute checked it out a few months back and everything was as good as new. All 8 cylinders and compression are as good as the day it was new. Tell your bro to put some vortechs on that spectre!:D

Whipple will have more low end torque then procharger. A procharger will produce less heat than a whipple at same boost. I bet you will tear up less drives with procharger then whipple.

Buy the big Procharger with the big intercooler. Call ASM and order the 80lb injectors, adj fuel pressure reg, 2 bar map sensor, mefi re-map. Replace the head gaskets and have a great time. 26 Daytona will need 28 Bravo1 and 1:36 gears for 80mph@4000rpm and mine went 104@5400 rpm for two years before I sold it and still runs great! Build the drive with Imco now and it won't break
